well i think we must have found the only wind in SA by the sounds!!! dad and i had a look at the goolwa speed strip but was dead calm so headed around to the murray mouth for a sail... wasn't heaps of wind but enough to get going well, probably 5 to 12 knots or so maybe, at best. so i took out the 7.0m Gaastra GTX with the Naish Supercross 114L to have a bit of a feel, see what things were like as we really didn't know what to rig lol. ended up handing that over to dad and rigging my 6.8m Bic Techno speedster sail on my Starboard S-type 93L. great set up for conditions and was planning consistently.

dad struggled a bit more on the other gear but i'm trying to get him used to the "smaller" board which his picking up pretty well rather than that massive 158L JP freeride of his. unfortunatley he packed up pretty early and neither me or him are really 100% at the moment (got a cold going through the family) so didn't get a go on the GPS. But don't worry i bought him a new GT-11 for christmas which i was going to give him an early present however didn't have an aqua pack he could use. shhh, looking forward to giving that to him and always posting full sessions as a team.

Dad took some pics which i will be putting up on seabreeze in a sec so take a look, below is my GPS track for the day anwyay:

Cheers, Hamish

Nice pics Hamish!(and Peter) - I haven't sailed the mouth on a noreaster, was it gusty?

Is the google image up to date ie the shoulder near the mouth?

no not really, i was much closer to the bank on the northern side and where it looks like i'm turning in the middle of the channel i'm actually pulling up on a beach there!!! its changed a bit but still quite good. i havn't sailed there for ages either and couldn't believe how calm it was at the lake and how much better it was at the mouth. and wasn't to bad with consistency, a little gusty but think i'm just getting picky, nothing like the south lake anyway. it was pretty flat working up against the bank on the northern side because of low tide although i did have a fisherman have a big spray at me for running his line. eneded up ignoring him and just sailing off, he wasn't there when i came back so i was happy. Only issue with the spot are that the runs are to short, other than that it was great.
