Hi Phil,

it depends on what u want to do for alva. It needs to blow a NE for a proper speed run which we havent had yet. Onlow tide you can get small flat water runs in the channels with a small fin <26cm.

The waves break in the entrance to the inlet on low and high tide which is fun to play in but the tide run in the inlet is pretty fast so it plays havoc with your upwind abiltity, i.e. wind going the same way as the tide means its so hard to stay upwind of the launch mark which means a WALK OF SHAME :(.

Bowen is good for slalom gear when it is a SE at the front beach. launch from the sailing club at high tide and the whole bay is waist deep. The end away from the sailing club has flattish water so its good to do down wind runs there. If is blowing the weekend you are coming up get on seabreeze and PM "Wormy" as he lives there and will prob be sailing that day. Great bloke and will help you out on what to do on what tide and wind direction as there are a few options. I am not fully up with all of it as i mostly sail the front beach. There is a run behind a sandbar but apparentley is not that good anymore?? needs right tide right wind direction.

cheers,
