obi one tobi (3103km): I love my wife beacuse she said" sure all you guys can pile in this car and I can drive you around fron Lancelin to Ledge and back!" So the day i was nervous about and I answered the question " whats the LOC like?" 12-18 kn Ledge point to Lancelin with Nebbia, Bertie, Isaac and Rowen. Big thanks for makingthe trip and doing the run! Nebb's was my buddy and thankyou for waiting for me, and going slow so I could keep up. The others were so quickly out of sight that they arrived in Lancelin with their cars as Ben and I stumbled into the pub looking like drowned rats and the locals started staring. Things I learnt about the Ledge to Lancelin run: dont wear a long leg wetsuit as you ride around with one leg filling up- weighing you down. use waves- plot your course for maximum downwind/go deep and speed remember the sails angle of attack to the wind- power on, down the wave and sheet in ( apparrent wind forward), out of wave, slowing down, ease sail to get correct angle of attack. surfing upright stance and speed stance when flatter water practice sail and board run into the water. a Wave jump and crash 100 m from the shore will look bad on the news! play the lulls and keep up speed. crashing all gybes is common!! Eat straight after you hit the beach- replace the energy lost!!- I had a carbo shotz energy gel 15 min before the run and should of had one straight afterwards, cos if I had to start partying (LOC style) I would have been asleep in the corner! It is fun! |
