LOCATION; GNOTUK

WIND:  WNW- 10-20 KNOTs, CROSSSHORE BIGGER GUSTS OUT FURTHER

GEAR:  160 LTR EXCITE RIDE, 42 CM FIN, NP V8 8.0

SAILORS:  RICHY, ASH

DETAILS:  Well that wasn't sposed to happen!!

Decided to go for a BAy bash but the wind looked pretty patchy at home.  Arrived at Gnotuk and there certainly was some breeze out the back with small white caps just starting to appear.  I rang Richy and Ash and said it was worth a look.  Decided to rig big and use the big board just in case the breeze decided to dissapear.  I wish now I had the new Supersport or even the 110,  The wind out the back was hooting!.  On the third run, everything just fell in place.  There was a gap in the chop over the third sand bar and I just veered off and flew (literally!).  Great run ended in hitting a slightly bigger chop and getting airborne.  Smashed GPS case and broke bottom batten.  I had to come in and leave the GPS in the car to dry so I really only captured the first half of the session.  After that, I couldn't get into the same zone!

The wind stayed in all arvo although by the end we were probably not playing by the motto "only ever sail as far as your are prepared to swim",  We started to search out further from the shore for the big gusts, but as the wind was cross shore, it would have been a big swim in!

Double Woohoo Mick.  Well done.  Airbourne would have added a touch of excitement to it all.  Damn shame about the carnage but worth it for the story!!

Well done dude. Great work for Gnotuk. We will have to get you come down to Bonbeach some time. The grass has really grown over winter.

The carnage...I thought the KATO(tm)SPEEDPACKS were rated to 50 knots!Smile

Note the chunk out of the bottom of the casing....good for ventilation, not so good for waterproofing!
