Finally got the 5x10sec 30knot average. Rather chuffed :D

Nice session, initially rigged a 6.3 but then decided last minute before I got wet to rig the 7m. Glad I did, wind was up and down a lot.

Not sure why I dont have an alpha speed - I did two of my best ever gybes. I guess the run isnt long enough due to too much south in the wind.

Quick morning session was all I thought I could get away with. Definately not as windy as it looked and too much south in it but nice to get out (again) even if the body thought otherwise.

Falcon 90 & 6.4 X-15 (again, easier when choice is limited!)

Great to get out on the speedy kit again. No epic times and not maxing when broad but a good training session. Ideal for working on the Matrix's secret speed building techniques. 7.8 would probably have done it. Good to see the youth fleet out making light work of handling their big kit in the breeze, lots of smiling going on :)

For sale:

Naish Force 2010, 4.2, 4.7, 5.3 (new and hardly used)
Naish Stealth 2008 5.8 (brand-new)
Naish GP Slalom 2010 110 & 128

Too southerly for a decent speed attempt, more of a freeride session.

Good work Lea, came down to find you but think you were packing up. Captain had requested some NMs, deck scrubbing coming our way..

Cheers everyone, really confused at the moment as to why I have no alpha. I hammered around a couple of gybes, still not fully planing out but one of them I only dropped off the plane for a second or two,  thought they would be good alphas, even told the landlubber of a captain ;-). A lot clicked again today and I was bearing off wellwith each gust. I think the direction suited my stage of learning as heading to the shore was forcing me to bear away to stop the runs being so short. Also I knew my fastest run was good as the gusts were almost in perfect positions.

Chandler, I really regretted packing up, thought I was more tired than I actually was. Sat at home at 3pm and almost drove back down there for another quick session. Hope its not the last for the month.

Swags, if I email the file to you, can you check in gpsar to see. I cant open sbn in my copy.

EDIT - I have just realised, I was probably going so far off the wind that when I came back upwind I did not make it to within 50m of the start point. Bugger!!!!! After running through the tracks I can see that now, but on the water I was sure I was close to the start point.

Good one Lea...your first 30+ knts...a great achievement in a Southerly at the salty lake.Laughing

Well done to all the team for a great weekend of PB's and top sailing.  Long distance drives, dog shit, mud, short harbour chop, long walks to water, cold hands, creaking knees.... we've coped and its still only January!

Well done everyone great weekend's results.............

And great to see you get over the 30 knot average Lea, was waiting for you to work out the proximity deal on your Alpha's not as easy as just doing a nice gybe.Wink

Anyway hope we get some more s/westerly's soon so maybe i can join in the fun?

Laters all.......

Being a mathematician I am going to have to look at the algorithms for calculating these Alphas! I have just checked my data on KA72 speed reader and I have an alpha and nm, yet with GPS results I dont!
