Obelix (1397km): Pinnaroo Point, 115L, 7.5m A pleasant session at Pinnaroo's.
Birdman (1819km): Safety Bay, WA, AU Manta 69, NP RSS 7.0m2 mkIII, 31cm Weedie 10-25kn WSW Got there early at high tide - invented a new manouevre - the slam-skunk!!! The technique requires your boom adjuster on the port side to pop out every tack - balances grovelling in the lulls with a parachute style outhaul setting in the gusts. Lao Shi joined in just after lunch and showed me a few of the tricks to sailing this venue. Last time I sailed here was 2002 - the sand bar is a 'new' feature for me. Must say I really enjoyed sailing in close to the sand bar - really flat water - yee har. Very few windsurfers or kiters out so very relaxing sailing. By mid afternoon the tide had dropped to the point that the 31cm weedie was restricting movement to just beyond the pond area.

lao shi (27489km): Great little afternoon session at SBay. Bonus that work finished early and went to join Birdman. Was worried when I first got there as there was no wind but it filled in and had some good runs on the S100 with one squirt hitting the peak of the day at 34.1. Later in the day the 29 was depth checking. Changed to the nonose as Birdman packed up as there looked like we might get a squall. First run was a 34.06. Got one more 10s run and that was it. Good to catch up with Adam who got me for speed of the day. LB7, S100, Elmo 29 weedy, nonose, Elmo banshee 24 weedy.
JJ (6448km): Woodmans Point, WA, AU
Most gusty day yet, mostly underpowered but fun anyway Fin too large in the gusts - not a good combination with the low tide. Futura 101, Code Red 6.2, Venom 42 |
