My first time out in three weeks - I've been away on the few windy days we've had recently - and after just an hour I was knackered! Amazing how quickly the strength goes. After all the rain the Bay was not the most pleasant place to be - the water was brown and smelled awful, and there was debris floating everywhere. The wind was reasonable but the water predictably bumpy so no great speeds possible. Tried for a decent hour but was underpowered and occasionally off the plane for the last 20 mins so although I beat my PB it's nothing to write home about really.

That is a pretty good 1 hour IMHO. I would be happy with it. To get a good 1 hour is more about conditions and consistently sailing then ability to sail fast or anything. Get out there and just keep sailing and don't stop!! My best 1 hours is on my big gear in medium winds. Nor Easters up at the top of the runway are can be pretty gusty and hard to get a descent 1 hour, and it can be tiring in the gusty conditions to maintain a full hour without a break. It would be good to find a really nice location with more consistent wind around 15-20 knots with out any "off the plane" lulls. Perhaps further into the bay would be doable? I used to sail much further down wind in NE at Kyeemah. It seemed the wind was more consistent down there... but the water was bumpier.

Well done mate!! I missed out last Saturday also.... not sure when I will get out next.

Cheers Adrian - yeah, looking at the PBs on here it does look fairly respectable after all. I agree about the NE'rs being stronger further downwind. I'll try for another hour when I'm next there - hopefully can improve a few knots at least

Nice PB Sparky Smile

The trick to a good hour is no lulls, no stuffed gybes, long runs and be unsociable...

Cheers Michael. Yeah, I imagine you rarely come within a mile of another sailor when you're doing your round trips of the bay..!
