Lake Clearwater, Ashburton, NZ

Pretty good sailing at lake Clearwater. Very nice toget more PBs after getting some two days ago. Also nice to pass 30 kts 2 sec and 20 alpha. Amazing what some wind can do. I'm taking my duty and the Vikings International Agent very seriously, so I took some pics and will add them later on with a map and some other info and impressions. It's a long way to the lake but it's quite a spot.

If you want an idea of what this place is like think Lake Cootharaba. Water state is about the same, though of course the water here is fresh, not brackish and filled with bull sharks. Clearwater isn't very big as lakes go, the runs across are about 600 metres but this is kind of nice - prevents your back leg from getting tired. There's lots of really, really good sailors here, and I have never seen so many windsurfing vans in one place before.

The wind was very strong when it filled in, but I was able to hang on to the 6.5 quite well. Works well with the 29 fin when it's windy.

Mike, it's awesome. That wind seems to come out of nowhere. It was so warm there today too. My first day in shorts since I arrive in NZ!

Magnus the reason there is no sheep is because when you lived there you edged them all over the cliff...haha

Looks like a wonderful spot ragnar
