Windxtasy (2881km): Melville Beach, WA, AU 6.4K, 85 Sonic, 32 vector. Nice wind, disappointing speeds (for me - I've forgotten how to sail fast through lack of practice). A good turn out for a weekday. Nice to catch up with Chris and Grumpy and an extremely happy Raygun. Well done on cracking the elusive 30 knots!
JJ (6448km): South Fremantle, WA, AU My goal today was to sail a small board so I thought the ocean would be the better bet for good wind. And it was a magic day - a nice steady 20 knots and the place to myself. Saw a 30 knot on the display riding the swells into the shore. Bear-aways at Crazy Waves were fun too. A PB for my local spot so pretty happy Futura 101, Code Red 7m (could have gone smaller) Vector Rockit 38 Isonic 86, Code Red 7m, Venom 32 (2 knots faster)
Grumpy (5762km): Awesome sesh. I've forgoten what its like to sail in real wind!
Thats a PB for my big kit. I normally top out at 30 on the big gear so pretty happy with that.

lao shi (27489km): At last!!!! Nearly 2 months since I was last on the water! I needed that! Got to Wallyworld after the W word and it was looking iffy so rigged the 7 and took the 122. Slightly overdone in the squalls but some great runs through the chop down to Pt Resolution fully lit. Only the second time with a 30 average on Bubba so got to be happy with that Would have been faster on smaller gear but probably a lot of swimming in the gusty conditions. Pleased with the alpha which was well inside proximity. Got absolutely drowned packing up that was some rain! Loft Blade 7m, Bubba, CF42.
Chris Porter (8173km): Finally some wind! Pretty busy lately with some house renos + moving + Arie having the flu. So good to get on the water and burn off some stress. Lunchtime session between moving boxes. Back in Willagee! Got to try out the new Lockwood 23cm today. Felt weird running a 23cm with a 6.6, but it worked pretty well. I wouldn't have done well in the holes we got earlier in the session, but it was fine except losing some upwind ability. Suuuuper slick off the wind which gave me my top scores for the day. Really looking forward to using it with my 5.4 somewhere flat! On the 26 weedy earlier on which was better upwind but draggy off the wind. Good to see so many out on a weekday. All the usual suspects. CA SP47; Koncept 6.6; Lockwood 23cm

Pointman (8480km): Finally some wind!! Almost 6 weeks since my last sail, so I had green arrow fever at work today. Gave up pretending to work around 2 and got down to Melville by 3. Went with the 7.6 TR7 and a Patrik 110 (that I borrowed from Rowen to demo) + 38 Sting. Very nice combo in the gusty conditions. Hooked the squall of the day bearing away into the corner, totally lit in white out conditions, for a 36 on the screen and 34.1 10 sec. It was all downhill from their unfortunately and my 5x10 includes a couple of 29s. I think the 110 has potential. Slimmer nose and rails than the Futura in the mid-section, and she was rock solid in the ballistic squall that got me my peak. Breeze was gone by 5, so glad I got on the water a bit earlier than usual for a weekday. Hopefully more to come later in the week....please Huey . |
