Safety Bay, WA, AU

Epic quick morning sail with Chris at SB - could of done with a tad more wind, but hey, who's complaining?

Lots of super smooth runs in worryingly shallow water. I think I beat my PB about 5 times. 38.3 display so I'm very happy.

Too much fun.

Safety Bay, WA, AU 20-25 knots, 5.8K, 26 choco weedy, Mark's nonose.

Beautiful conditions although a bit more water over the bar would have been nice. Speed runs had to be beside the bar. Blue sky, consistent wind, almost like summer (with a 5/3 wettie!). Glad I passed on sailing yesterday and waited for today.

Try as I might that 30 knots continues to elude me. I should have been able to manage it today, but couldn't get over 29. I did get heaps of 28's and 27's - probably more than I've had in a single session before, and my best speeds since March, so I'm finding my mojo again although the aerobic fitness is way down.

*edit*  my 3rd best 2 sec and my 2nd best 5X10 today, so I can't complain too much.

Nice to meet Rod, and catch up with Slowie and JJ.

after work sesh

yep saftey bay is for sure closer to work than woodies so looks like the beaver will be my after work local Laughing its gonna be a sweet summer

one good puff for the good peak, ran out of water while i was still accelerating, was on port bearing away into the beach for the best speed because the bar was too tight to the wind and stupidly shallow, i couldn't get even onto it with my 24 weedy

wind was pretty bad for speed so made some good goes at alphas but the 24 just hasn't got it in her at the lower speeds

not bad numbers all round anyway

6.2 reflex, 57 mistral sl, 24 custom weedy

A desperation sail at Dutchies after the W wordFrown

One Squall got me upwind to the break but then got caught in behind the groyne as the wind dropped to zero and mugged by the weed monster!!Yell

woohoo! great numbers JJ! must have been shallow if you were worried with a 26 on xD

It was shallow. I had a 26 weedy too and mine was scraping weed in many places, hence no speed runs over the bar for me.

JJ was out a bit earlier when the tide would have been a bit higher, and the wind stronger.

Anita, slowy was on a 5.0, JJ on a 5.5, and you were on a 5.8.

Maybe you'd have got your 30 on a smaller sail and shorter fin

Maybe, although the wind was 5 knots stronger when they went out, and Slowy's 5 has so much depth it really doesn't compare...

I usually use a smaller sail than all the guys but it felt like 5.8 weather to me, and it is my favourite sail.

I felt comfy on the 5.8, it's the first time I've felt powered up on downwinders for ages. I don't have a smaller fin but if I had I would have used it!

Thanks everyone. It was too shallow to easily get going again once stopped. But ok when up to speed.

A bit nerve-wracking, but you know what it's like - smooth water is addictive Cool
