Excoet Sting 134, Mauisails TitanGS 9.0, Select RS7 51 - Wind ENE 12-15 kts

Heat 1 NSW Slalom Tour

Wind was a bit disappointing after such a big forecast but after waiting around all day it finally came in enough to run two planing races about 5:30pm - figure 8 course off the end of Coal Point.   Great to do some slalom racing again!

Every second counts.

Patchy NE 15 kn wind was finally building late in the arvo' for the slalom contest. Then bad luck struck a Moth coming down wind,

me heading up wind on port, sailors back to back doing a good 20 knots apiece on a collision course. I had one second to reduce speed

before impact. It worked. The Moths centerboard took out a sizeable chunk from my bow section with no other damage to either vessel.

The best part of this story is that both sailors came out of this prang without injury. So remember. If a second is all you got...use it.

Thanks James. I was going to rig a 6.6 on the old screamer had the wind been a tad stronger and being the slowest rigger of gear

on the east coast on top,it was best to call it a day. I reckon the fanatic will be ready to go again 6-8 weeks. Its stilldripping now.
