Lake Tinaroo, QLD, AU....S/E wind on dam so we went to Black Gully.     No wind when we got there but we both rigged 6.6m Loft 02s and went out hoping for something.      The gusts that came were mostly short in duration with long lulls between.     LG....Lifes Good!!

Holloways Beach, QLD, AU    6.2 Revolution 104 Screamer

What a pleasant surprise. After having a hiatus for what seems like an eternity, we finally had 8hrs of some decent breeze. Kicked of at 8am this morning and continued into the afternoon. Tried to catch up with Freddy earlier in the morning but to no avail...to many family chores/appointments, but we finally made it at 2pm. Due to the the lack of TOW, was some what sceptical as to how long we were going to last in the typical Holloways slop.

Ended up having the seasion with Firie and followed him on one of his "DOWNWINDERS"...didnt understand how far downwind he actually went to get his speeds. My only prob was the short sharp upwind leg to actually line up with the beach on the run in..any way, needless to say nothing ventured, nothing gained. 21 k's and I was shot...welcome to summer time fitness I guess.

Good to catch up with Firie, Freddy and Kel later in the arvo - I am feeling for you mate.

KA72, Holloways Beach, QLD, AU

Shoulda, woulda coulda if my fitness was better, when the gusts came through there was plenty to get better speeds but my nutsack kept hitting me in the back of the head trying to knock some sense into me. Water was a rough but the direction was good to align the swells up. Happy Kel was a no show as he would have creamed me.

When I got to the beach at 2PM, Freddy said a guy called Serg (another Doc) said he was sailing to the reef and headed off over the horizan first run, never came back to his car and wasn't seen since he took off, I rang 000 after 5PM and went home, hope he's ok Frown

Doesn't sound good Kel, I got a couple of calls from the police half hour ago chasing info and Fred's number, they wouldn't tell me much so I don't know what they know. Hopefully he's back at home in bed ? I was at the movies with my young fella so no phone on me.

Firie ....pretty sure next time if there is a next time I will not say a word. (But thank you for your efforts.)

And on a stightly more faster note your sailing yesterday was great...especially in that 'spin' cycle.

Good to see so many out at this time of year.

Freddy - always worth saying something. Could be any of us out there with broken gear. Most of us would at least let someone know our plans though.

Good on you Firie

Thanks Gaz and ya right, no way could I just go home knowing his car was still there even though I was anoyed with him. He's a nice guy and has learnt a good lesson (I hope). Also I need to learnt not to talk so much, derig quicker and have a beer at home, that way I wont be the last man standing Laughing

Serg sent me a Seabreeze PM this morning before I went to work, he's sorry, he got near Green Island then no wind so got a lift back with a dive boat. The police told me he then went to a xmas party Undecided I believe it involved a fair number of resorces YellWinkSmile

Nice Naughtie too Firie.  it's not an FNQ session if there isn't some drama involved and I can feel your frustration too Bob - hopefully big lesson learnt by Serg.

Bob,

Make sure you get your really old sails out for Troppo to use unless you want a 3 piece sail.  Wink
