Canton Beach, NSW, AU,,, ha, ok sess, pretty patchy,,, does anyone have an opinion, based on experience, on those jp light wind boards, about 90wide, about 154l, does it sail cross wind, what speeds can they do

Canton Beach, NSW, AU

Total distance travelled...2.66km. That gives an indication of how bad the wind was.

Coomba Bay, NSW, AU

Nasty dirty water in the lake after the rain. About 12knts with odd gusts. Water was also very choppy this end of the lake in a ESE despite low strength so not much fun.

Smiths Lake, NSW, AU.  8.0 GTX, Falcon 101, 37cm BP type R, 10-15 kts SE.

An test run this arvo to check the depth of the lake and where the shallow parts are.  Very hard to see the shallow parts through the tea coloured water and only ran aground a couple of times to find the boundaries. The water should drop further when this rain stops and expose the sandbankLaughing

Guess you have seen this? http://www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Windsurfing/Review/JP-Super-lightwind-90/ Might be worth PMing some of the guys in that thread? I'm yet to read anything bad about them. They sound awesome! :-)

Hey Milsy, like Nic said all reports on the JP's seems great- though they are pretty pricey. There's one on Seabreeze for sale at Yamba, but $900 clams. I'm going to try an older formula board in a few week (this 2006 F2 FX pictured), as  there doesn't appear (to me anyway) to be much difference in shape to the JP's, yet they are half the price. Anyway here's some pics to compare the two.

Oh, and here's some happy snaps from Queens Lake today. Looked great, nearly total glass, torrential rain, logs drifting randomly and a 4WD washed off the timber bridge, Turned around got out whilst I could. flood wat

Nice Photos Phil. I guess he thought he could get over the bridge because he had a snorkel on his 4x4. WRONG !

Phil you could have launched off the whalf today if there was any Good Wind.

Mark, could have nearly launched from the top car park!...lol

As I drove out again, the water had risen another 4 inches over the bridge. Glad I didn't go out for a sail or I may have been there all night.

hey, thanks for the info, i appreciate it,,,, well i hope your wrong aj, i hope its not too similiar to formula, and more like big cruising but fast, im hoping to use it with a jp 36 weedy, or they make a 40 now so maybe that size, with a 8m, its eithier that or a 140l free ride style, not looking for ultra high performance, but not too slow....... then drop down to a 112, 68wide with a 7m and then its time to do ok, .............im tossing up between that 2013 mistral or the 2012 falcon on seabreeze at about the dimensions above..............then maybe that 2013mistral 95l, 55 wide...........now were flying baby, ha,

Hey John,

check out a video of mine on utube

 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_VhRKGbfF2Y

It could be the sort of board you are looking for. I'm not sure how much they cost to buy. I really enjoyed sailing it though it was really different to what I'm used to. The straps are right out on the rail plus it when very fast and exciting to ride in light winds. The reason you hear everyone talking in the clip is most people had given up sailing by then as the wind was very light that day.

Hey Johnny. That was phil's post about the JP and f2, I've personally never seen either board. Graeme just picked up a Mistral 137, and damn it looks the goods - wide as with an innovative shape that slowboat designed and it cuts the mustard. Spotty has delivered some blistering speeds on it at sandy, and slowy himself has delivered some special speeds to in the choppy swan river. Worth a look for sure - I had a good look at the 137 and 91 that he got and I am envious! I would have them for sure. Very Reasonable price too compared to the RRP for the other brands like JP and Fanatic. You are able to get them direct from slowly in WA

Good onya Marauders in what looked sketchy conditions. Like everywhere at the moment. Lots of local flooding around the place and very full lake water that's a bit dodgy with debris.Time for the rain to P off.

Well done Matt K on getting the first sail in at the Smith's speed strip.Nice tracks! I'm sure it will improve as the lake and tides go out.Just need more of that E or SE wind to get it to happen.

Interesting photos Phil. Makes a trip to the local like an African safari into the wilds!

And Ill get to ride them soon..the Mistrals that is......if this rain and flood waters will let up, the thought of hitting logs on new gear is not appealing.

@ Milsy...the formula and JP light wind are worlds apart in board..very differing rails and outline and fin needs and very differing in performance parameters.  I'm no light weight and hence the Mistral 137 was the choice for me

cheers

Graeme
