What a great event to be a part of and so happy to get to the Tavern at Lancelin in 53 or so min!Thought I was going to take the 4.7M Zone and 69 L RRW but after Will had been the wind dummy decided to take a 5.4M Core and Wills Goya (84L) which I think he wished he had taken but which turned out to be a very comfortable combination for me in those conditions. The practice downwinder that Nat and I did on thursday from Woodies to SOuth Beach (6km straight line, approx 11km sailing) was the best prep we could have done for the comp see[img]/gallery/gallery/Windsurfing/1429253.jpg[/img] for the GPS track on google earth. The worst prep I did was trying to get rid of my cough by taking cough medicine that "might have a laxative effect"! My calfs started to get a bit crampy on the last couple of legs so really concentrated on pulling off the turns to avoid any further swimming and just left enough to sprint up the beach to the caravan.    | ||||||||||||||||||

L to L all about the right gear. Our trial on Thursday from Woodies to Freo really made the race fun. Knew what to expect and could work on a few tactics. The dreaded third marker that created quite a bit of trouble for a few sailors, as it was quite downwind is where I made up time. I was watching the others sailors got too far inshore and and then not being able to get going again (helps to be sailing at a reasonable speed and being able to watch what is going on) so I did my two extra gybes early on and rounded the boat without any problems. Am well stoked with the result, finished in 55ish minutes, running up the beach with Bender - and beat a few sailors that sail so much quicker than me..... | ||||||||||||||||||
