had a quick fang on some nice, relatively flatish Pelican point water late this arvo... getting a bit faster but need to work on the alphas a bit more. Worked out how to get doppler figures of the GT31, thanks to Coolsnides. got a nice new 23cm weed fin in the post and the 44 will arrive any day now... ye-har!

Great day at Hardies, tide quite low and I was'nt game to sail where the others were going, the 27 weedy may have found a few rocks, too good a fin to lose, speaking from experience, on my last run back to the car park found a shallow patch and got catapulted went head first into the sand snapping my boom bit of a headache and stiff neck now.

Congratulations to Crasher, Hardie and Tim on their PB's

W49, 6.1CR, 27 Choco Weed fin, spent about 45mins on Iso86,   GT31doppler.

WOW.... what a christmas! haha

after a great morning of unwrapping stuff, headed off for chrissy lunch around 12. lunch went till ~4 so sailing wasnt looking too hopefull. however managed to get home by ~ 5 and checked to find that mandurah was going off, with 27kts on seabreeze. so yeah, after some frenzied packing managed to make it down and get rigged by about 6:15.

headed out on the 5.0 rs6 (5.8 is dead) o missile small with the speed-weedie: select ligtning evo 29@~40deg. things were looking good with the first underpowered run producing a 37.8, and with a sweeeeeettttttttt gust managed 40.5 on the third run. Very good feeling run, with great board trim (unlike the last pb), just feeling really relaxed and smooth. Having the right wind and a sail small size seems to make such a huge difference for getting the fast runs.

Anyway after that did a few more runs, then headed in and managed to drag decrep back out for one run down the inside. Think i got ~ 32 for the nm on that one. Once i was upwind again had another crack at the nm, and manaed the pb. wasnt really windy enough though, so more to come i  think over summer. some rather large patches of light wind in the middle of the course probably kept the miles frm being 34+. interestingly on the garmin track my two top miles are both exactly 33.56... wat a fluke. also supprised as the garmin has recorded most speeds lower than the doppler data, apart from the 5x10. probaby a bad course allignment with the gird effect or something XD

oh yeah... and the crap part of the session:
having had a crack at all the NMs i wanted and gettting the 40 decided to pack it in before it got too dark. As i pump for the last gybe im thinking "wow so glad i diddnt break any..... SNAP!!" farkkkkk the almost new 400 x6 breaks at the 3rd cam XD. this was at about 8:20 i think. anyeay started walking.... and walking. lost of spikey/posionous/bitey/gooy/movng stuff on the bottom of the estuary. not pleasant when your carrying a half rolled up sail through ~1km of estuary Yell. either a devil fish of cobbler got me pretty good on the left foot about halfway to shore, and some other strange spikey things got the right foot, tho that stoped hurting after ~30min.

A HUGE thank you to hardie for driving down to help me de-rig and get the gear back to the car, and for givving me some a place to recover before the drive home.  got a favorite beer mate?

overal an awesome day, best farkin xmass ever!

gps displays 40.5 garmin and 40.45 navi

data is doppler

500m doppler of 38.022

After multiple family breakfasts and lunches were covered I made it to Melville in time to watch the wind drop out. AAAAARGH. I still had fun with one or two small gusts getting me powered for a couple of seconds at best. Hoping that one day the stars will align and I will actually see wind of 25kts (or more) in the gusts at some stage this summer. I must have been a naughty boy this year. 6.6m, SP44, CL24asy.
