The dumb luck continues. I had both gps,s fail  Navi shut down ,didn,t charge it. The garmin turned it self off at some time into some good 1hr runs. Aw well it was a beautiful day with lots on the water all having fun. Ran the CA40 with ka5.8 for speed, Kids ProS with 5.8 for 1hrs and the AB with the KA 5 for sailing with my kids sitting on the front. A perfect fun day.

A big day for the Pit Crew. Quite a few of us present.

I arrived at the inlet just before 8am to see if I could get some NM runs up the Yanakie Channel. Peter, Adrian, Tom, Spotty and Mat were already there! No chance. The tide had hardly gone out at all. It was westerly and the tide was due to be high at just before midday so I went home and had a nap.

Got back at 11.30 and the tide had already started to receed. A few guys were trying for NM's accross the sand flats. It was looking quite windy, possibly up to 30 knots and Adrain looked OK on his 4.4m Koncept so I rigged my 4.4m and 5m Koncepts. I carried the Starboard IS87 and CA40 boards down but it looked OK for the speed board so I did a few runs. Every one was almost the same with less than a knot seperating the peaks speeds and the 10 sec runs. When I had 6 over 40 knots 10 sec I realised that it was not getting any windier (maybe 25 knots) so I came back for the slalom board for a tilt at the 1 hour. One run with the 5m and I was dropping off the plane at the dunes end indicating the wind was moderating so I quickly rigged the 5.8m Koncept and went for a larger fin than the TM speed 26. Spotty was using my 30cm KA slalom fin so I put the Standard 320 Drake fin in. This was a big mistake because it was a weed magnet. After about 20 mins I was being passed by girls on wave boards! Spotty and Craig flew past me a bit later so I decided that they were doing better than me anyhow and I would stop. I pulled in at 30 mins and as I stopped a huge chunk of weed dropped off my fin. Now I knew why I had the brakes on I quickly turned around and kept going, only to find I had weed on the fin again after a couple of runs. Another quick stop to clear it. Now I figured I might as well finish the hour but it felt slow.(21.278)

After a rest and 'borrowing' an apple from Craigs kids (I recon I needed it more ) I bolted the TM speed 26 back in the board to see if it would shed the weed. It was like having another gear, especially upwind so I just kept going for another hour. This fin didn't seem the catch any weed at all and was noticeably faster on all points despite its diminuative size. This was the best one posted.

I feel satisfyingly exhausted now.........

Oh, my NM was on the CA40 (KA 20 assy), gybing up the dune end for another speed run. For a speed board it sure gybes nice!

'09 5.8Koncept, Kode112, wavefin, first up getting long NMs in with 38-40 peaks. Latter with Daffys  Ka 30 SL fin made it way easier to do 41 peaks, no more 38knot spinouts, that fin is real sweet too Slowie Few quicker 41 42 runs done with CA44 , 5.8. 23Kassy
