Lake Clearwater, nor west in the morning, holey and gusty . Died off and turned Sou west later in the afternoon.

Wind never really got settled  from either direction.

Terry got a smoking gybe, hope he can do that for 5 days at next weeks Slalom Nationals.

Nice in that fresh water, wash all the sails......and the sailor.

Mile runs all have 2 gybes in them so not so flash on this lake.

Hi Snides. We are in the middle of the South Island, about 2 hours drive from Christchurch. Lake is up in the mountains at 667m above sea level. Lakes runs NW/SE and with mountains either side it funnels the hot NW winds from over your way. On a good NW day it is common to get a solid 40 knots but it can be a little gusty. In winter the lake freezes over completly!

Isnt it great to see a KIWI team taking it to the ozzies!!!Cool

Wow that's pretty spectacular!  I would imagine that it would be a bit gusty on the lake?

Believe it on not its not cold at all in summer. On a nice NW day it can easily get to 30 deg and as its is a shallow lake the water is nice and warm (still wetsuit weather though). Very refreshing place to sail as its cleans your gear out and everything seems to run so nicels after the fresh water!

Glen we are heading to Clearwater on Friday-keen? Dinks and I are also going to Ellesmere tomorrow pm . 20-30 knot NE forecast. Gotta try the Dinks speed strip this summer. Could make this months GPSTC very interesting if its working.
