A really fun bump and jump session at Green point in a perfect Melbourne winter northerly. The sun was even out most of the time!! Didn't have a long enough leave pass to go to Rye for a speed session, so just on wave gear. It was actually good to totally forget about the speed stuff and just go for a fun sail in the chop.

SSD 85 Custom ( what a sweet board) 08 Ka Koyote 5.3 ( a gem!!!!) mangled Curtis 28 wave fin (mmm need a new fin)

Haven't speedsailed at Rye before but it sure is a hell of a thrill! One minute its flattish, the next it's one foot high lumps. Even a few jumps on port tack. Pity it wasn't 30knots as forecast but I reckon by the time I had packed up it was getting there. Well done team!

First time sailing at Rye and what a great spot! A few of the other pit crew there plus a heap of other windsurfers. Wind maybe 20-25 knots and perhaps up to 30 by 4pm or so when I was too shagged to sail any more. Great to have the loooong runs weaving around the banks. Managed not to hit any but did go over the handlebars once after flying off a wave at speed on a broad reach Frown  I even managed to pull off a few slightly smoother gybes! Started to get a bit overpowered on my 5.2 by the end.

JP super x 96L, JP 27cm fin, tushy x-15 5.2

At Rye, good turn out with the rest of the crew.  Wind did not really get up till later in the arvo when I'd had enough of trying to hold the Kode112/Wave fin in a straight line all day. Nice to see PBs guys coming out of the Rye chop...

Cool that's interesting. Hey Spott remember I span out too but only about half as long as you at 15:43 I'd reckon. What's really interesting about the graph is how much smoother your speed plot is than mine in the chop. Must have something to do with 100kg of pure Spottiswood! Given that we both ended up with about the same numbers, I can only assume that even though the dips in my speed were greater, my acceleration was also greater due to my lighter weight and sheer disregard for the consequences of such reckless acceleration in chop. Tongue out If ever there was a decent demonstration of how a sailor's weight can affect control in chop then this is it.
