Clearwater NW 25-30   SP3 48cm board, Maui TR3 5.1, Mykz 250@25 fin

Out early while the other guys were fishing (8 trout caught) missed the better wind, had tightness in the chest and being an old fart had to quit just in case....must be getting old !

Dale Muller was flying on his 14 year old slalom board and wave sails. he used Terry's C3 Venom 26 and loved it ......went 38.3 on his 5.0 and later 38.2 on the 4.6.And it was far from flat water.

He tried Terry's race sail and couldn't even sheet it in and Terry had the same experience with Dales wave sail.......what you get used to !

Mike loading for Terry. My GPSAR program won't open so this is using KA72 speed reader and the readings are way higher, it appears to read positional data? Is this acceptable for the ladder?

Terry on CA SL52, Maui TR3 5.1, C3 Venom 24cm

New PB peak Terry, if allowed to use this analysis system. Will ask in the forum.

CORRECTED SPEEDS --doppler for all tracks except Alpha.

thanks for all the positive coments. I will do some PBs soon.

First time on c3 24   worked great on the 52 CA.   Wound on 51 TR3  .  Water pretty rough.

Hi guys,

If using positional data then change the little pulldown menu to read "Trackpoints" instead of "Doppler".

I'm happy to check the track if you have any doubts Smile

Hi Neb,

surely everybody would use positional if allowed, the speeds are generally so much faster but it feels like cheating when there is a so much more accurate analysis method (doppler and trapezoidal integration).

Some of these speeds are 0.6-0.7 faster ....but we'll take 'em.

Hey Mike,

The Trackpoints option is there for people with older GPS's that don't record doppler.  We believe in letting them still compete, but they are encouraged to upgrade to a proper GPS that uses doppler - this means that they will be on the same level playing field as everyone else.

It's a big can of worms, we've been through it before, and letting people choose which one to use seemed like the best idea.  The vast majority of people choose to use doppler, as it has been proven to be more accurate than positional data.

That said, I believe that KA72 uses doppler if you've got a NAVI, so perhaps you can select "D" after all?  I'll check the track and let you know, anyway.

(Dylan from ka72.com posting)

Terry,

File can be downloaded for checking from http://www.ka72.com/biglist.aspx (Filter by location Clearwater)

This is a gpx file, so the site processes it as a trackpoints file. There is no doppler data in most gpx files.

If you upload an sbn or sbp file from a Navi, it will give you doppler speeds.

Anyone can download and check the file from ka72.com (above link) if you want to verify it.

Part of the point of ka72.com is that it makes uploaded files available for verification by anyone.

Happy Sailing,

Dylan.
