5477 days ago ...Ok Slowy, I'll buy the board...
Headed out today to get the CA SP47 up over 33 knots to make sure it was comfy before I bought it... stoked with a couple of 35 knot runs...and on a FO Weedster 260!!!
I think this board must compensate for the worlds worst fin... I hate to think what I could have done in those gusts on a different fin. The weedy was necessary due to the state of Pt Walter at the moment, or at least to give me some confidence in skimming over the shollow stuff.
Wind was VERY average. Up and down and shifty. The best gust came through just as I was on the beach leaving the water. I think I nailed my peak in a 26 knot gust. I was hoping to get a few more quick ones to improve the 5x10 but it wasn't to be.
Very impressed with the board. Well done to Lockwood on a great design! Looking forward to many more sessions on it, hopefully on better fins.

5477 days ago 2 categories Heaps of fun at Woodies with Darryl from S'Siders and a few kites.
Solid 20-25, gusting to 27-28ish. Mostly well-powered on the Koncept 5.8 + CA47 + KA 23 assy. Could've done with a bit more sail on the run, but it was rough as guts out past the point and the 7.0 woulda been a handful (maybe need a 6.3? ).
Had an earlier sesh on the S-Type + 28 FO weedster + 5.8 intending to go for some Alpha's, but drowned my GPS so no data for that session.
Low tide, so stayed downwind of the platform thingie at the top of the run. Kites were mostly upwind of me where it was too shallow anyway, so had a great sesh. Made up for yesterday's skunking at the same venue!!

5477 days ago Lancelin bay, 5.0 ezzy SE wave , 79l Kombat and JP weed fin. Saw someone else going fast and thought I would try it too. Was busy all day with domestics so didnt get to the water until 4, glare made it hard to see what was happening. Thought it was more windy than that so didnt take speed sails or Sonic (was only 2 minute drive but didnt bother to go get them). Was really surprised getting over 30.

5477 days ago Yes!!! YESYESYESYES!!!!!
OK I'll tell the full story:
Got down to Mandurghistan to find Lao Shi and Pepe rigging up, our plan today according to the DTSP was to "go for distance". Looked a bit light so put up the 7.0... couple of runs to get it sorted and then Lao and I headed upwind to do the big hour mission. That went reasonably well, dropped two gybes but quickly got back up, with one minute left in the hour I thought I'd be a smart alec and do a big bearoff for that extra poofteenth... it didn't end well with a spinout, harness unhooking, rail trip, and one wet nebbian. Back to the car for lunch, and then the wind started coming in with a vengeance!
Up with the 5.0 for some alphas, on our hour mission I'd found a really lovely flat spot near the point, so sailed back there and hammered out the gybes. I really really really wanted to hit that PB, it has been staring me in the face for almost two years. Got a bit dehydrated so went home for a drink, and managed to convince Lao to go back there for some more alphas. Did I mention that I really wanted this PB? Lao sat on his board to be a marker for a couple of gybes, which was immensely helpful, it showed that I was pinching too high after the gybe.
Called it a day when we'd decided that we had enough distance between us, and was itching to see how those alphas had gone... Hardie let me use his computer, and would you believe it, I SMASHED that PB 8 times today! As for the hour PB, well... meh. Could have gone faster.
Here's the track, which shows about as good a shape as it's possible to get:
Alphas were 24.8, 24.2, 24.2, 24.2, 24.1, 23.9, 23.9, 23.4, all higher than my previous PB. It was a good day for them today
In the immortal words of Elmo: YEEEEEEEHHHHAAAARRRGH!!!!

5477 days ago Thanks to MMob, Huey and Nebbs for my Christmas present of 3 PB's! Yeah baby. So stoked.
Nebbs took me up to the top of the estuary for an hour attempt and did bloody well to hang on to a 7m when I was fully lit on the 5.8. I stuffed the hour a bit as the last run was sandwiched between the island and the sandbar that I have never seen before. It almost seemed to appear out of nowhere.
Track shows that there is still room for improvement with more use of space and one slower run.
Later went to a secret spot for some alphas and used a special technique for making proximity.
Alpha PB in Doppler by almost a knot. Yeeehaarrrgh! Thanks Nebbs for making me go and do some. Top spot. Had a 25.76 alpha at 53!!!!! Doh! (26.01 TP)
Decided to do one Nmile at the end as the snotweed did not seem to be a problem on the outside and there was a bit more water. Did not feel quick due to chop but delighted with the result.
From the track I was definitely not on the run so more to come here too.
Got in to see 89 miles so though I would do a couple more runs to get a PB but clearly my mental arithmetic was rubbish. Missed by 3k's. Doh!
Well done to Nebbs on the PB's. Excellent work.
Joined the 10K club (sorry to dissapoint you Evets).
