Went for distance.  Sailed off Sandy Bay on the Derwent River with Steve.  Didn't even bother about trying to do a 1 hr as the wind was all over the place and dropping out completely every 10-15 minutes.  Probably gusting up to 20 knots at times and generally from the NW.  Forecast was that a SE seabreeze may occur, but it didn't.  Steve and I had a good blast though.  I was on the Starboard iSonic 122, Severne Code Red 7.5 and started off with the C3 Venom 40cm, but soon changed up to the 46cm, which gave way more lift in the gusty, choppy conditions.

As Dave said.

Used the Severne 09 Code Red 8.1 for only the second time. I would have normally had the 7.0 on in that wind but it wasnt that windy when we rigged up. Wow this sail really rocks. It was handling the 20 plus knot gusts really well and I was suprised how good it felt in that wind. Also the 40cm mast extender on the 460 Enigma mast rigged and worked perfectly. Sailed the Isonic 2010 121 wood and 45cm Select fin.

Alpha Romeo is sailing past our house at the moment and I can just see her in the fading light. Seems to be flying in hardly any wind. Nice way to cap off a good day and a few beers of course.

Well done guys, I think this session sealed TSS vs MM for the year, what a great end to the year it has been.

I must say Dave's 511km left me in amazement (together with a 25.2 hour in the middle) and deserves to be remembered as part of what put you guys ahead of the MM for the year.

Altogether a great team effort by TassieLaughing.

Bring on Friday!!!!!!!!

Thanks mate, yes it was an epic battle with you guys. Cannot wait till Fri and beyond. Dave showed me his GPS display on Mon with 511km on it. I still dont know how he did it, I felt shattered after doing 155km. Hope you guys hang onto first for Dec.

Thanks Steve, seeing MM as #1 on the 25th was a great Christmas present!

It is going to be very interesting  to see if either team can close on #3 next year or whether MBM, Pinnas or the Southsiders show us the way. All of those teams (and others already in the comp and joining now) seem to have some great talent. What a great comp!

Yeah, thanks guys, been good fun all year.  This was my first sail since doing the 511 km, so quite interesting to be out there going for distance again, so soon.  We were certainly lucky with the wind.  Felt like it was going to drop out at any minute, but it kept on gusting through all day.  Well done MM for what looks like a win for the final month of the comp, fantastic effort.
