Whitey (887km): Arrived at Woodies at about 5pm. All on my lonesome but had a blast before the wind died. Was a bit shallow to run right on the shore but very happy with the speeds. CA SP50, Falcon 28, Koncept 5.8
Snides (18313km): after a crap day at work i wasnt feeling much like sailing and to be honest i have lost some motivation with this speed thing..how ever i decided a trip to hardies to try and boost the hr and nmile where prob a good idea. when i got to hardies the estuary looked mighty uninviting for hrs so i decided it was a day solely for miles. started off pretty well with a 38.29 on the dial for the first run with my arms screaming out as i had the harness lines set for my wave sail..dohh settled in for some long runs which where made possible with a very south wind making sailing back to the car park a breeze from deep in a land...unfortunately the breeze kept swinging so much so i could lay pt gray on port tack from deep in a land! this means it was dead on shore..was pulling 35's sailing back to the carpark. the on shore breeze basically shut down the run for any more speed..but it was fun while it lasted. the hr had no gybes in it and the alpha was from my only gybe of the day... ca sp 49/rssmk2 5.4/drake weed 22 it is now obvious to me that this drake fin has hit a wall so a hunt for a new fin is needed.
Stringer (6817km): 6.2 rsr evo ii isonic 86 34 talon / 32 CA peli point racing, happy with this combo in the high winds.
hd one quick run on the CA44 but was too choppy to get any good numbers in... im after a 30 knot nm before the summers over!!
Slowboat (25967km): Longish day. Nice to use the 7.0m on the river. Some short gusts coming through over 25kts which was cool. SP40 7.0m CL24A. Chucked the slalom board on and burned down to peli but missed the first 2 races. Missed the start of the 3rd one (was still sailing to the start line when the hooter went) but managed to get 3rd. Then the wind switched off and I bummed a lift back to Melville with spotty. Thanks maaate.
Claude Lecoq (22230km): Peli pt slalom race, great turn out once again and strong seabreeze that died before the 4th race. IS86, CR5.9, Choco fire blade 32.
Chris Adamson (11668km): Good solid 25 knots at Hardies and plenty of fun to be had, though the water was pretty high making it rougher than usual. Manta 49, North Warp F2010 6.3, KA/ Lockwood 23 Followed Nebs up to the kiter beach where things were pretty nice and i tried ten or so alphas, but only one was in proximity - lucky for me a marginal PB! The Mamdurah locals reckoned the inside Hardies Run was the go but I wasn't game to try it. Best speeds were scattered all over the estuary.
JC (3196km): Peli Point slalom. Managed the first two heats with a 5.9 but felt underpowered and uncomfortable. Hadn't sailed for 1.5 weeks and boy did i feel it. Came in to switch to the 6.5 and go for a freesail but someone turned all the wind off. Frustrating result after a windy day. CR5.9 IS 86 and Vector 30 Well done to the lads that clocked some great results today.
25 (7387km): Quick after work session at Pelican. A few runs across the shallows - the weed seems to have cleared quite a bit. Should have invested a few more minutes to drive to Woodies by the look of things! F2 SXS, 5.7 Koncept, 30 Tectonics Falcon. Great work Whitey on the PB - I should have done it!! Great work also by Snides [big nm] and Ado [big alpha] at Hardies and Slowey for his efforts at Melville!
Neil Daffen (98km): I'mm Baaaaaaack Decided to head down to Woodmans "Bloody Kiters" Point (my last sail there was about 15years ago ) and try and see if i can remember how to do this again. Got down there around 2pm and sailed for a couple of hours with me being the only Windsurfer v's 15 or so kiters. Hence my tracks show quite a few sudden 'unplanned' swerves ! Was having good fun just playing with tuning of my gear. Realised a few intersting points ; 1. Sail was too big. 2. Fin was too big. 3. Board was too big. 4. I'm too big and unfit All this aside though, still had a ball Good to be back. CA SL55, TechFalcon 32, Gaastra Vapor 6.0m2 |
