5439 days ago No wind when I went out but did a bit of waiting and it came up nicely, some big gusts but still plenty of lulls. Hopefully there won't be as much rain tomorrow and it'll be more consistant.

5439 days ago iS76, 5.0 Overdrive, 30cm KA Slalom - Yeppoon, Wind NE 33 - 44 Knots
I pondered whether I should have rigged the 6.1 as the wind was only around 25 to 33knots on the BOM before I went out, but once I got down to the water around 2.30 to launch I had trouble just holding the board and sail. The waves were massive and breaking about 500metres out but I thought I'd go broad and get down to the southern end of Lammermoor beach. I hooked in and went about 100 metres when this gust hit me like a freight train at the same time a monster swell broke right on top of the board and somehow it took off then proceeded to slam me into the water with enough force to twist my knee brace right around the back of my knee. At this stage the board and sail lifted off the water and flew about 20 metres downwind. I couldn't help thinking that I'd sailed with this combo in 30knots only recently. Anyway I knew I wasn't going to have much joy and proceeded back to the beach. Once back I went and checked the wind reading which was showing the wind at 33 knots gusting to 44kn. It's good to know what your limitations are and I think I went well beyond them today. Wish we had some flat water up here.
