Disappointing day for me at Area 45.  Struggled with spin out all afternoon.

LOCATION: AREA 45

CREW:  EJ, OLD SALTY, ANDREW

CONDITIONS: Easterly 10-25 knots,  High tide (choppy) shifting to low (less choppy)

GEAR:  Xcite Ride 135

Np Excess 6.9

Mean 38 fin

Good session with some of the crew.  Area 45 was choppy in the morning but nothing too scary...the wind was strong enough to get up and over the chop.

In the arvo the wind came up with a approaching rain front and when it hit, it flattenned the surface considerably.

Today was a bit of a tweak day..raised the boom height by a good 50mm and shortened the harness lines by roughly the same.  It felt like the power in the sail was more controlled.  I am still struggling with getting into the back strap and I am wondering if it might be because it is a fair way inboard.  I reckon I need a session at Sandy Point on a SW where I can set everything up and take a close look at where I am F##king up!!!Smile

With the dicey forecast and late low tide I elected to stay 'local' and sail in Parkdale with 'the other some' of the team, Windrider, George and (may be soon) the Russian. Conditions were far from perfect with an extreme gusty ESE up to 25kts that kicked in later and wipped up some serious short chop. First went out with the big gear (JP XCite Ride 135 and 6.2 NP Hellcat). Wind was either 'on' or 'off' instead 'up' and 'down'. In the end I decided to take my faithful companian, the Tabou 105 and save my dental work coming undone. Had some 'ok' runs with it on the way in. Should have gone to Area 45 perhaps, but....

Great job on the PBs Andrew...

EJ, of your 57 kms distance, how much was spent in the air instead of on the water.  I definately saw your fin out of the water a few times

Old salty, I reckon its a "one of those days" things...This new spot throws up a few challenges that will push us all beyond the short burst runs we are used to at the Angling Club.

Thanks for a great day's sailing!

Good work on the PBs Andrew.

The others decided to stick to the bay, due to the rain forecast, the idea of sail at high speed not knowing how deep it is due to the murky water and cloudy conditions and the late low tide.

Wind kicked in here at about 4:30pm, but very gusty. Should have come down to check the spot.

Great work Area 45 crew, concrats on the PBs Andrew, should have come down.......but get this, after my darling told me she doesn't care about Valentines day a few days ago, everyone at a B'day party last night was told that her 'husband' is going 'Windsurfing on Valentines day' ....I should have known she had an agenda, so by sticking to the bay I saved the day pass for next time Wink

Yeah, that was a trap waiting to be stepped into, sounded too good to be true.

Great to hear you had a good day. Next time in that area I will definitely check it out.
