With not much wind forecast I decided to take my gear for a ride to the water as it's been so'ooooo long since I've been out and make my mind up after breakfast in the van !!! So with the sun out and a nw breeze decided to go for a longboard cruise :# I beat up to Pin Mill and had some reaches up to Felixstowe dock, could have done with more wind but still good to be back on the water after this long cold windless winter with the sun out and loads of birds on the mud flats !!!! and out for 2 hours even if my feet are still cold :#

After months without any real opportunity to sail, today was nice and sunny and there was a bit of wind too! The temperature was 10 degrees so not cold at all (especially with the sun) and club members had a nice time sailing up and down the lake. I should probably have rigged the 8.4m sail but it was a pleasant afternoon and I enjoyed being on the water again. Maybe more wind later this coming week. :)

Tech Details: Navi GT-31 V1.3 (B1123t), GPSResults v6.71, Doppler, Cubic Spline.

First session in 2010.  Took me a while to get organised so by the time I hit the water the best of the wind had gone.  Still nice to get out again and the bonus is that I only fell once as I didn't fancy the water after ice had been on Rutland just 7 days before!

Stephen where are you launching from????

My Mum and Grandmother were born in Harwich, and my Gt Grandmother, Pin Mill, so I've got a reasonable idea of where you're sailing

It is good to be sailing again after 3 months off the water Hopefully we will get some decent winds soon and be able to post some more respectable speeds. Anyway, it's nice to see some "PBs" on GPSTC even if we have gone much faster in the past, lol.

HI Mike Layzell

Small World !!!

this is my track of my lightwind sail from last sunday,as you can see I launch at the end of Levington Marina !!!

I enjoy the river for longboard cruising but you can sail a shortboard here although the wind is abit gusty :(

Hope to get some good wind here in England soon as it's been a long, cold windless winter :( but off skiing next week so the windsurfing might have to wait awhile yet !!!

Me at The Ray/Southend - late 2009

Mike - I speedsail at The Ray/Southend which is about 70 miles down the road from me :) but sadly getting the tide and wind together is rare :( I have tried Weymouth once but it's a long way from me and the last time I tried the wind was blowing 50 mph and I had never been on my speed board before so gave it a miss !!! I hope to get to West Kirby this year and love La Franqui and Gruissan in France (sailed there last year) and we are going back in June fingers crossed for some wind !!!

No mate not on facebook, I feel a tad uneasy about that site for some reason.

You've got plenty of pics there though, very interesting.

The Dutch guys are certainly enjoying La Franqui, getting some very impressive results.

We don't have a really good speed spot here, much over 25kts it starts to get quite choppy.

Hope you get some wind.

Thats my trouble where I live here in Felixstowe,it's an open sea venue and 25 kts is about as good as it gets !!! so I have to travel to find some flat water :(

It was a top session In La Fraqui :) it's not many place you can get a 40 kt average four days running !!!

I had a day at La Franqui and a day at Gruissan last October and had a great time :) just miles of flat water and sunshine and sailed over 200 k in a day at Gruissan and can't wait to get back !!!

Looks magic, we were in France a couple of years ago, must have gone quite close on the train to Barcelona.

I do remember some very flat country with some big lakes or inlets with some very interesting looking sandbars in them.
