Clocked some good distance today and felt a little faster on the reaches this week but still lagging behind those with some weight behind them. Still off the wind I was on the pace with everyone else and in a few flatter spots I was surprised what I achieved given the more freeride oriented fin.

Would have been better with steadier wind as that really upset the water state but it can't always be perfect! I headed up the south arm searching for better conditions later on but the direction swung and the 'magic spot' was frequented by heaps of anglers so I thought better of doing a fly past!

The cold wind had a lot of punch when it came through so others were happy on a metre less than 'lil 'ol me! That's probably my weekend done now but I know I'll ache after the 76km.

Having an ear infection for 2 weeks and having already missed the Round Hayling Race (lucky miss by all accounts) I was desperate to get out on the water !!! So still deaf in my right ear :( I wrapped up with hat,gloves,2 wetsuits !!! and with the wind dead offshore took the longboard for a cruise to Orford lighthouse (10 miles) and back !!! I good reach down and a choppy beat back but just great to be out again :) and I might get the short board out tomorrow !!!

At last - first sail of the year! and contribution to Team East!!  Good to get out but 6.7 is biggest sail I have access to at mo so was underpowered and slogging most of time  - Not often Rik is on a bigger sail than me!!

Finally realised why I have felt so uncomfortable every time I've sailed since getting this slalom kit - 30" harness lines I thought I'd put on my boom are actually 26".
