Drift (5307km): LOCATION: TREADWELL'S RUN WIND: N-NW- 15-18 KTs PEAKING 20 TIDE: INCOMING HIGH TIDE SAILORS: OLD SALTY, b3, MOONDO, MADVENTURE GEAR: JP Excite Ride 160, 42 cm JP FIN down to Excite Ride 135, 38cm Mean Fin. KA Koyote 7.4 down to KA Koyote 6.6 DETAILS: Great day sailing with a good crew...A highish tide meant there was a new run to explore and this thing is long....real long...nautical mile from end to end, a few lumpy sections but generally shallow and flat...Initially the wind was a bit fluky but definately fun. Noticed my 2nd batten was looking a bit weird and closer inspection revealed it had broken near the luff. Continued to sail it for a few more runs but it felt a bit unbalanced...Came back in and changed down boards and sails to the 6.6 and Excite 135. The wind came in and had a great blast with all 5 of us pegging along within about 2-3 knots of each other speed wise Highlights: 1) Having a hoot of a downwinder with Old salty....both totally pegging along for about 500 metres 2) Seeing B3 post his first session...awesome stuff! Lowlights: 1) Getting caught under the 7.4 and it went into the wind. I was still hooked in and got to the point where I had no breath left. I remembered the theory that the moment you feel your lungs are totally empty you have about 10 seconds before you black out. I made one last grab at the harness, got it free and pushed away from the rig....came up with about 3 seconds to spare!!!
JAK (6497km): Late morning light wind session at Green Point. Mostly potting along, but a few gusts followed by being on the plane for some stretches. Good to get out again. Bondy arrived later when it was all over. JP XCiteRide 135, 46cm Supersport fin, NP 7.5 V8
Old Salty (1642km): Area 45 - Treadwells Run. 15 - 20 Kts NNW in morning and 15 kts NW in afternoon Mid to high tide Worked well in this direction. Could get over the sandbars with the 42 cm fin Mistral Barge 144 Select 42 cm fin Koncept 6.6 Felt real good when locked down. Took boom height up to chin and had harness lines wider apart(2 hands) and closer to the front of the boom(5 hands) - thanks to Kato's advice. Just great to have the long runs compared to Inverloch. Water was relatively flat 30cm chop considering was not low tide. Fastest I have been outside The PIT. All in all a great day. Sailed with B3, Drift, Moondoo and Madventure
