Hey Mal what is the top speed you have got out of the Torquay, I have the same board I have been using on the lake, do you have any idea what the volume is for these boards, mine is 9'2" by 21.5" with a 13.75" tail and weight 6.6 kilos. mine has thick boxy rails and a very flat rocker. seems to float me not too bad at 80 kilos, have had a couple 37's on it and hope to get a 40 on it. picked it up for $80.

hi jamie. sorry for the late response. the board is 8'10" by 20" & 12" across the front of the fin box, about 82 litres and 5.5kg. approx 1997 vintage & fairly needle-nosy. budget buy at shq swapmeet. gave it a slight bum fairing job to restore plaining surface flatness which had sucked 1mm negative due to age. fairly easy to get to 38 on a good day at sp. good luck with your low cost 40kt quest
