Island Bay, Westerly 12 - 20 Kn.

CA xr 68, MFC 38, Simmer 07  7.6m

Out with Chris, Martin and Maurice , sailing across to Pt Chev a few times. Nice breeze and correct size rig for a change.

Using RealSpeed for the above. From the track, the nm  speed looks accurate and so it would have taken 159 seconds to complete at that speed. That's enough time for 15 or 16  10 sec runs. So how can the average of the 5 best 10s runs possibly be less than the nm speed?

Doesn't seem possible. Doesn't matter in the great scheme of things, just curious.

Short sail at Island Bay, NorthShore, AK

Not really enough wind but pleaant sail anyway. Must tighten mast base to avoid doing the submarine look when it slips forward Embarassed.

Hi Michael,

the 10 sec runs are only recorded 'one per run' so your mile would have recorded only the fastest 10 sec of that run.

If you had done a gybe mid mile you would get two 10 sec recordings.

GPSAR has a check box for "per run" so it is adjustable in the software but all the comps require one recording per run.

Cheers,
