Today was one big windsurfing lesson for me. Never sailed in 50 knot gusts so I was nervous whilst waiting to do my first run down the course. As a result, I did not notice that my boom was way way to low, noticed when I was going at full tilt though. The inevitable "over the bars" happen at the end of my first run, resulting me putting my knee through my sails bottom panel, a small tear in the second panel and snapping the second batten, f**k. PB's flying all over place and no spare sail and one new sail dead, felt like buggering off home! Eventually decided to continue with a broken sail. Sail felt like shit but it was better than nothing I guess. Know wondering if I could have squeezed an extra 2 or 3 knots extra with an undamaged sail? Disappointing day, next time in nukin winds, I will be careful how I crash, IE try to unhook:) Great turn out, lots of old and new faces, good to catch up:)
