Drift (5307km):
5195 days ago LOCATION: AREA 45
WIND: ENE- 0-5 kts turning E 10-15 gust to 18KTS
TIDE: LOW to INCOMING
SAILORS: Richy, Ash
GEAR: JP EScite 160, 52 cm fin down to JP Super Sport 136, 50 cm g10 fin, NP V8 8.0
DETAILS: Forecast didn't look too promising but I headed down anyway. When I arrived there was a puff of breeze from the NE but there were some clouds building over the land. Rigged big and waited about an hour. The tide was fully out so all banks were exposed. I decided to go for a putt around. After about 15 minutes Richy and Ash arrived and with them came the seabreeze!
It was pure E 10-15 knots...I had a magic run all the way along AREA 45 outer channel and then back again. The water was like glass so it was like runnig on marbles!. The wind filled in and stayed at 10-15 kts for the whole arvo. It got a bit choppy with the incoming tide but no complaints!
I came in and changed down boards to the Supersport. The new fin certainly had drive!. I still didn't feel 100% on the board. It kept trying to round me up and with so much fin below me, the board was getting pushed around a lot by the chop and the tide. I tried raising the boom a bit higher but it didn't seem to do much. This board is gonna take a bit of time I reckon!.
On this direction, 45 is awesome!....a great day!
