I was a bit worried I might be overpowered after rigging my 5.7 when else seemed to be using 5.2 and smaller. Decided to give it a go anyway. Good for blasting but a bit scary to gybe. A short but fun sail.

Today's mission was distance, so got down to the estuary and found Lao Shi rigging up (we were the first ones there).  Initially rigged the 7m, and had some really fun racing with Lao out to a marker and back.  We were pretty evenly matched in the light winds, although I had it over him in the early planing stakes, and he had a good knot more than me in the gusts.

As the wind was kicking in we stopped for lunch, and changed down sails... then it was on to our hour mission.  Up we went to the top of the estuary, then fanged downwind.  All was looking good until the wind dropped out halfway through  Lao had some periods of slogging, so his hour will probably be a tiny bit less than mine... still happy with it though, considering that the wind wasn't going to play ball.

Afterwards we had some of the most intense slalom racing I've ever raced, we were really really close, although Lao had just a tiiiny bit more speed than me on the run back to shore most legs.  Some race smarts help as well 

Highlight of the day was Slowy sailing along 50 cm upwind of me yelling "Can you feel it?", after discussing the finer points of airflow over two parallel surfaces... Anyone else I would have been sh!tting my pants but man that guy knows how to sail 

Great day out, fantastic to catch up with Hardie, Elmo, Evets, 25, Slowy, Lao, and all the other sailors whose names I've missed.

Goal of the day was to break 100K (and get a PB). Got one of the two. The wind was very gusty, at times I was thinking I would need to change down but then it would drop out again. By the end of the day the wind seemed to have gone completely. I suppose I should have been able to bob another 250m but the conversion from nm to Km had me confused (and I had to be home to cook dinner , and I was stuffed).

Chris and Jemma , huge congratulations , the best days of your life are ahead of you  ,  I couldnt sail Friday as it was my youngest sons last day of school !

Only realised after posting that I got an hour PB as well  - that was unexpected.

A great day of racing about with Nebbs. Very telling the difference weight makes. He had me on early planing and light winds and completely smoked me hard upwind but I got him in the gusts. The numbers don't show just how close it was.

Started with some lap racing to the first channel marker. Very close and great fun. That's when we need the helmet cams!

Rigged down and spent an hour getting to the top of the estuary to go for an hour.

I was well underpowered in the hour (should have rigged the 6.3) but wanted it to be a fair fight. Off the plane 4 times and so amazed that there was only 800m in it. Honours to you Mr Nebbian. 1 all on our Hardies hour races.

I had hoped that when we got to the run you would call it off but no Mr Sadist wanted to do the full hour. It was hard work.

After working back upwind the wind kicked in ( ho, ho Mr Huey). 

Round 2 of the lap racing commenced. Some very physical one on one fully powered up. Exciting stuff.

Wind dropped and we called it at 90 miles. Wanted to do 100 but could not be stuffed rigging again.

Koncept 7.5, warp 5.7, sonic 100, elmo 29 cm weedy.

Well done on the Pbs guys. Sorry I was too lazy to do another 10ks for a distance PB.
