kato (15334km): Knocked off work a bit early as the easterly had been honking since midday and low tide was around 5.30 and i needed to get wet. Still recovering from Thursdays fitness test so the mind was willing but the body not so,so not a lot of ks today.Went to area 45 and chased the nm course first, very very broad and lots of swell to deal with down the course.Hard to drive the board off the wind and not hit the bank. Had a nice crash on the way in, another crack in the helmet. Not sure what i hit, the vid might show it. Ran 5 nm and then moved over to the other banks, the nm bank was just going to end in tears and it took a while to chop smash back to the start. Chased a few 5 x 10 and alphas for awhile and had a go at the 1 hr,but very short course and i found every way to muck up a jybe and invented a few more . You can lay down a jybe TOO much. A nice way to end the working week 20-25kt ESE a bit more south and the nm would be faster. Yes i had another team member for some company and fun Sl52/ Ka 5.8/ 30 Venom (Perfect combo)

Peter Johnston (5021km): Nice late afternoon sail at Inverloch with Craig. Got there about 3pm and there was a nice steady 20 knots or so ESE. Looked like it might have enough south to make the NM run work - it did for Craig - well done mate!! - but very bumpy. Quite hairy zipping down just inside the bank with a decent chop coming in at 45 degrees to the run. Didn't have a good first run then hit a bank in the middle on the way back up and broke a harness line. That is three harness lines busted there in two visits! Then headed up to do some short runs up and down the inside of a small bank which was square to the wind - lots of gybes but dropped a few too many for a good 1hr. Nice to bump up my alpha a bit. Just nicely powered on my new 5m Koncept. Strange to see Craig falling in more than me for once! JP Slalom 84L w KA 23cm assy and 2011 5m KA Koncept. |
