Burrum Heads, QLD, AU.

Made the trip to Burrum, as the forecast looked good and from yesterdays posts it was more SSE, which is good. Got there and the sand was blowing hard along the front wall. Which indicated is was ESE. The swells up the channel were breaking off the tops. What to rig, decided to go with 6.2/W54 & 29cm Caspar as looked solid 20+. Also know that I would have to walk out, so coming back to change wasnt an option.

Walked out all the way past the 3rd marker, with the gear on my head, Am now 6ft1Frown.and took off from right inside the washout, to build some speed and hopefully point to the last 2 channel markers. Wind was now about 16-18 knots. Just made it to the top. The tide wasn't a very low one today so the bank between the last 2 markers was mainly under, with small swell rolling down. Only between the washout and the 4th marker was flat, the rest was rolling chop.

As there was so much east in it, taking off from the top was a little tricky. I had to wade out to chest height, and take off on a reach headed straight for the bank, then bear off on broard reach whilst getting set, wasnt much room for error. The 1st few runs were 33, 34 and some 35's.

Then I was joined by 3 kiters, who enjoyed boosting right at the end of the run, which made things a little more interesting.

Wind picked up a fraction and I managed some 36 runs and a 37. The last run of the day is where the nautical mile was done, barrelling through the chop as it rolled down the course. Trying to beat the tide in as it comes in super quick.

Should have used the 7.0, but thems the breaks!

W54 goes like a dream, and has heaps more in it.

This is nearly as good as one of ODINS novelsWink
