A quick squirt at Swan Bay in the 41C heat. Inconsistent Northerly at start but filled in from the NW as I was leaving. Jacques had got the Missile out and was cranking .. first 40 Knot on the west coast ??

Swan Bay

Well that was a nice way to finish of the year. I new this place had it in it, just had to wait and for the right tide, wind, and Gust!. All in all it was a pretty up and down day a little bit frustrating,  but really good when the wind was in, so it just kept sucking me in to stay. It was a little NW today slowly swinging WNW. I was working this one bank, and when you timed it well it was good!. Did a 38 then a 39, and thought it was time to grab the Missile, did about a dozen runs but the wind was not playing the game and swinging around fast making the end of the run really broad, to broad. hung in there and waited for a stonking gust took off and nailed it!!! should have hung round for more runs but the goal was achieved. The first to crack the big 40 knots in the bay, Plenty more to come !!!  LaughingCool

F2 SX small, Missile, Tushingham X15 6.4, FO weedster 28, chocco speedweed 24, Plus 6kg weight

PS correct me if i'm wrong, but never heard of anyone cracking forty yet.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVRYONE

Had a look through GPSSS and could see nobody faster on the bay... you may be able to claim the title.

Spotty did something around 40 knots at Rye a couple of years ago, but not sure if it was just under 40 or a bit over 40. Ed Seymour told me once that he did something near that at Altona a while back and thought that that was a bay record at the time.

I found the session where Spotty went really fast at Rye: http://gpsteamchallenge.com.au/sailor_session/show?date=2009-07-11&team=16 - which I think was the previous bay record.

Looks like you went faster Jacques!!
