Burrum Heads, Used CA 50, VMG 6.0 and Slingshot 21 for the morning session down the bank, then Iso 96 for the high tide sail.

Very unfit for sailing at the moment after the NQ summer doldrums, i was getting arm pump and could hardly hold on after the first run out to the end marker and back. Embarassed

Still had a great day and its nice to get some wind and flat water for a change.

Congrats to Sausage on all the pb's Cool

Rigged 7.4m and had a morning session, but could only get to 5 knots...after lunch went out again and a few puffs got me up to 20 kn.

Had another session later with Freddie but could not get any improvement.     Lyn wanted to try her 6.0m Gun Tempo but was that underdone

she doesn't want to talk about it.   Also she didn't stay out for long.

Big congrats to Snags, Gaz and Kel....great numbers....hope you all enjoyed yourselves.  Innocent/Cool

CA50, Delta 23, 6.4 Koncept/Kermit, Venom 42, 6.4 Koncept, Burrum Heads.

Wind was a lot lighter than the forecast. Struggled to get going with the 6.4 in the morning when the bank was out, should have changed to the 7.5.

Congrats to Snags on all the PB's, good effortCool

iS101 / iS76, 6.6 / 7.5 Koncept, 37 / 30 KA Sl - Burrum heads Wind SSE 15 - 20knots

Woohoo - more later.  Have to drive 420km home.  Was meant to leave at 3pm but Gaz made me do some extra distance (f#$ken cramps)

My 4th time sailing flat water ever and 2 years to thje day that I set all my PBs here as well.

Decided to go the iS101 and 7.5Koncept and first run up the course felt great, came back down and had 33.5kn on the GT-31.  Thought this was going to be a pretty good day.  Headed up to the top of the course on second run and just before gybing my harness spreader bar snapped.  Not a good start to the day and was buggered by the time I got back to the first marker sailing unhooked.  Luckily I had brought a spare bar (don't know what made me put it in the bag).  Decided to rig the 6.6 and iS76 when I went in to change harness. This combo never felt right (whether because I was underpowered or otherwise) and took about 1.5hours to at least find my groove.  Used a new boom on the rig too which has a really large diameter at the front and this completely screwed my arms up. Should have tried the 7.5 with the iS76 as the rest of the morning session was fairly marginal except for the occassional gust.

Didn't really attempt any alphas as I was coming out of gybes at the bottom of course and finding it too hard to meet the 50m proximity. Top of the course was a little choppy as bank didn't fully expose itself.  Also there just wasn't enough wind to pull yoiu round the gybe at times.  Looking at Nm on realspeed I was really slow for first half and pulled up way to early.  Need to sail here more often to understand Burrum's nuances. Still incredible to sail this place with some wind.

Was content with the morning session and was packing up when Gaz and Kel convinced me to do some more k's on the high tide.  Body (especially legs from walking in the sand) was telling me "No" but couldn't pass up an opportunity to possible get 4 PB's for the day.  Wind was really up and down and I ended up expending a heap of energy just trying to keep it on the plane.  None the less sailing broad in the gusts back across the flats at high tide was still exhilarating. Went within 2metres of bumping into a dugong at speed too.  Beautiful creatures but shit they're slow to move when sitting on a sand bar.

It was great to catch up with Gaz and Kel  - amazing what one will do when deprieved of good sailing conditions.  In total the 3 of us drove a total of 4000kms just to get to Burrum.  All in all it doesn't get better than walking away with 4 PB's.

PS - Kel thanks for the timtams too.

Brian!!! Nice work mate. Been a long time coming. Bet you are grinning from ear to ear. I can just see you on the way home pulling up at the road works and telling them all about itLaughing

Conditions at Yeppoon where obscene. I gave it a go but it was beyond my ability.

Snags, holy crap, well done. I went down to Yeppoon today, had a look and thought NOPE. Adam, Matt and Andrew were out on small wave gear but way to big for me on a slalom board.

Hey Choco, I don't think Snags is feeling so athletic at the moment. He called from GinGin.(had to get out of the car and walk around due to leg cramps).

Probably was BTB but I followed what everyone else was rigging instead of going with the 7.5. Fingers crossed for tomorrow

I'm supposed to be back in Darwin next month so that will probably be the end of my sailing for a while. Need to sell my property so I can spend more time sailing. Next time I'll come through NSW and catch up for a sailCool

Thanks guys for all your messages.  Makes it all the more sweeter when you get a PB too.  Kel and Gaz are sailing again today so maybe they can better yesterday's effort although I want at least one coloured ball for the month Wink.   Great to sail with locals Geoff and Daryl too.

If anyone saw me cramping up at GinGin they would have pissed themselves.  Both thighs at once is not the most pleasant thing I've experienced.

This was my first run back down the strip just cruising and getting my bearings. Didn't get too close to the bank until the end.  Any way it gives everyone an idea just how great this spot is.
