Good session with a few PBs for the site, for the Max speed and Shane got the 5x10 PB and also he got a 33.9 500 metre which is the quickest here so far.

40 kts is on at this spot, .....coming soon I reckon, the wind petered out a bit early otherwise one of us may have got it today.

Shane and I got our top speeds at the same time, he was glued to my tail all the way down the run.

My 5x10 average wasn't flash as I had to include a couple of 31's along with my 36.6kt best 5x10.

More tomorrow please!

Hey ragnar : we were both at the harbour this afternoon: just  2 others. no sign of sh*t, no smell, looks like normal. heard that it is considered safe to  be in the water. steve didn't fall in at all today, so he'll definitely be fine whereas i spent some time bobbing about. great session, came a a surprise at this time of the year, when we normally try to get last bits of sailing up at lake clearwater. we have a lot of sailing options here in christchurch. it is also  not a bad place to live, 'quake aside.  Ade

Actually, seriously when does the season start and end there? I've heard differing opinions. Some say it starts in September and others November. Is it a matter of conditions being too cold earlier or are the winds no  good? I'd like to get at least six month per year windsurfing.

Hi Ragnar

You can get 6 months in here easy just depends on how good your wetsuit is and if you can sail with gloves and booties.

In the winter the only wind is frontal stuff from the SOUTH. Not many sail but it is possable over winter.

The usual season is Oct to April in the lakes  and Sept to May in Christchurch.

Check one our team results and it will give you a rough idea on our sailing

Terry

PS get a job where you a wind clause  Over 20knotts and you sail!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Terry. Sept to May is about our season here, just because the wind stops in winter (not that we have a lot in the other months...). We're still sailing in shorts and rashies at the moment.

I had a look through the team sessions late last night and saw that some crazzy types have been sailing down there in June and July Surprised

Hi Ragnar. Rule off thumb with sports here. Our cricket team are mud, Our all blacks are great but cant win a world cup and the canterbury crusaders you can count on..... Or you can windsurf your ass off in anything from 10 to 50knots.
