Holloways Beach, QLD, AU

GEM 2.7M Slalom, Rapidfire 6.25,  Firiebob's carbon boom(Thanks Bob) Clifford Fins 320x50x8 thick alloy fin.

Magic sail at Holloways. could run along the swells right down to the sandbar. The skinny fin I was using loved hiking back upwind.

Great day on Arlington Reef & GI.Wind initially 20-30knots .1/2 hr window of opportunity to try the NM run on Arlington .Gear EXo 50 Vector delta 25 RSR E3 6.2.

Foolishly sailed the channel crossing  on speed gear with the 25 delta fin -the wind was honking & I was desperate to see how fast I could go on speed gear down the NM run .

Run over was hell .Had injured my R 5th finger in the  boat anchor winch -avulsing the nail bed & compressing the terminal digit .Only way I could stop the pain was to inject the nerve with local anaesthetic .THe result was reduced pain but non functioning 4th & 5th fingers leaving my grip compromised +++.Wind was swirling/3m swell was blocking the wind when in the trough, fin kept letting go.Absolutely knackered by the time the 7 odd klm crossing was over -forearms were spent .

Too much east in the wiind so NM was very choppy initially but did flatten close to exit time .There was a NM record to be had today but sailing alone & injured definitely impacted on the psyche.Had a 39.2 peak on the NM Run but couldnt hang on for any more than about 35 secs.

Made it back to the Island around 1130 to find Kel with a  40 on the dial so stoked for him !!Well done KEL !

Tried the RRD X fire 32 sting on the Northern run but hell chop meant the peaks were under 36 knots.

Good wind for a change in the morning but we didn't have much time before the water got to shallow. Was hoping for some good alphas in the arvo sess but the wind had died by then so happy with the numbers we got. Another five knots we could have had alpha PB's as well.

Congrats to Kel and Peter with the PB's

This was my last sail for quite a while so a nice way to finish. Cheers to all the teams I have caught up with and sailed with since last December hopefully I can do another trip in a couple of yearsCool.

We went to Kurrimine Beach because of the optimistic forcast,   turned out to be almost windless.

Because of the forcast we both rigged 5.9m and waited expectantly...   Eventually I followed Herby out but could hardly get planing Cry

Big Congrats to Peter and Kel and in awe of the numbers from Kel, Cam and Gaz!!

Gaz, we will miss you and wish you all the best.     We have marvelled at some of your feats and look forward to when you return.

We made a road trip to Kurrimine Beach and met up with Hoppy and Freddy.    We all thought it would be on for young and old. (young??)

After rigging and waiting I decided to go out anyway.    Picked a couple of zephyrs and got planing enough to lure Lyn out.     Fredddy was already

helping Hoppy, but there was not enough wind to lift him onto board.

Just goes to show the difference in wind if your north or south of CairnsYell

Not exactly LTD, but we sometimes have to just accept it.

Gaz, you have always inspired me and wish you all the best.   Look forward to seeing you on water again soon.

Thanks for all the congratulations and congrats to you, Captain Morgan, so annoyingly close. I was the only Windsurfer at Holloways, Kel, but met Horst at the sandbar after he sailed up from Yorkeys.

Came home after a great days sailing and sold our apartment, seems like a sure contract, but you never know. So we will be living on the water in a couple months time on our catamaran. I am planning to leave my gear rigged on the back deck, so should be able to do a lot more sailing.

Good luck with your trip, Gary.
