Woke up early and went straight down to the Beaver for a cheeky sesh before work!

Nice day, I had the place to myself mostly and the breeze was pretty constant around 20-25 knots out of the west which was cruisy on the Manta 49, Warp 6.3 and magical KA23 fin.

Had a few 39's but couldn't quite find a 40. Can't complain though - it's not often you get action in the morning in November!

BAM and the wind is gone. Thought it was going to stay up all day, so I decided on the afternoon beaver session hoping for a little more south in the wind. Well it was honking all morning and when I got there it was looking great. Rigged up 6.2m expecting to be blown away at times. Even set up the speed board, along with the '12 Mistral 57cm slalom. Got slammed carrying the rig to the water. Oops. But as I got on the board... hang on... somethings missing... aaaah the wind has stopped suddenly. And it pretty much stayed stopped all afternoon. Mostly 15 to 22kts with some lighter patches and occasional bullets to 25. Really strange. Totally underpowered 99% of the time because it was 7.8 weather. I could see big rain squalls going past but missing the beaver by a couple of km- and killing off the wind each time. Was hoping for the wind to come back, so didnt bother changing up. Caught out by positive thinking. Persisted underpowered with the 6.2m on the slalom board and did manage a 40 and a couple of 39s on the dial before deciding it was more sensible and more fun to pull out the '12 113 litre 68cm Mistral. That was more fun! I could stay on the plane more easily.

The only rain squall of the afternoon that made it across the beaver hit when I was on the big board. It was very short- lasting only a minute, but I was powered up on the 6.2m for some of it. Great. That was my fastest run of the day with a 40.49 on the dial- on the big board. I thought it would do 40. Done!

Checking the wind meters now it looks like there was loads of wind everywhere else, all day. Hope a few other guys got out there.

Onya ado for doing the morning session. The guys there said it was much windier in the morning. Glad someone made the most of it!

hahaha underpowered most of the time, and the few times I did get a comfortable amount of power for a few seconds I got my fastest runs. But they were narrow bullets that were few and far between. A bit like yesterday, but less windy overall. On a windy day down there the runs are usually a lot more consistent. Still buzzing though. I wouldnt have used the big board if the wind was steady, so I wouldnt have discovered its good for 40+ Cool. That was wicked fun. I'm stoked with this board. Looks like it will be getting a lot of use this summer. Glad you got down there Ado.

I certainly intend to slip into the Beaver a few more times this summer.

Is it acceptable to say" I'll see you down there?" or "It's windy at the Beaver!"

One of the funnier posts I've read here - I'm really enjoying the craic boys although windy Beavers could leave a few red faced. Wink

Does it stay nice and wet, wouldn't want it to go dry when you're going for it...
