Up at 6.30am and at the water at 7am for my first session in the estuary since the earthquakes. Poo pipes have all been fixed and the water quality readings look better than pre quake....must have been plenty of leaks in the past and I guess getting all the pipes rebuilt is one good result of the quakes.

Estuary has changed a lot, shallow spots all over and the cockle beds have exploded. The bottom is like 10 grit sand paper everywhere...you wouldn't want to crash and with that in mind I sailed very conservatively, shame because even though it was rough it would have been fast if you were getting loose and nutting off properly.

Used the 45cm Speedy and 5.1 Tr3 Maui with my 250/25 degree fin

And now off to Lake Clearwater, more sailing this afternoon but in fresh water and thin air.

Christchurch estuary...yay!!! isonic 44, overdrive 6.0, Mykz fin. Windy!! choppy!!. Great!! Then to lake claerwater wiith the same combo. Better speeds there. Wind very up and down but windy too. Had to read clearwater file on ka 72. Normally use gpspro. Seem to get skunked with the gps at clearwater. Maybe i should wear two there. Your fin held great Mike, even through the chop.
