quick session at lano as cam rang me and begged for some support, was on my way to meet ali for a wave sail. went and rigged up the 6.3 ka race and mistral 110 2010 with vector canefire 38.

Was pretty lit and didnt have the ideal setup for the conditions. A smaller board would have been better.

mongrel chop, rolling chop seaweed, cray lines and kiters all adding to the mix.

now sitting in car waiting for the late session. where i will don gps in the waves to boost km average, reputation down the toilet.

The things i do for you cam!!!

iS97, 7.0 Blade, 37 KA Sl - Lammermoor Beach, QLD, AU Wind NNE 20 - 25 kn

F$%k F%^k F$#k. Two firsts and a third today - first time I've ever snapped a board, first time I've ever snapped a mast (lucky I know) and third time I've smashed my shoulder in the last two months.  Have I said f%^k yet.

Lovely little seabreeaze for the afternoon and was having a great session over at the main beach.  Hadn't dropped a gybe either and decided to call it quits and head back home but about 200metres on my last run into the beach I hit a fish and had a very quick get off.  Just remember coming to an abrupt stop and then felt everything give way (including shoulder into mast).

Have I said f%^k yet

EDIT - here are some better pictures of damage

Words can't describe how pissed off I am. (Only used it 6 times ) I guess it'd be a lost cause trying to fix it too. Quite surprised the board snapped though as I've hit heaps of fish before.

Fitzy, it was either a big barra that hang around the point or a stingray. All I know is there was some thrashing in the water just after crash and the fin was all slimy. Don't think it was a shark or turtle as leading edge wasn't marked at all.

Nice work Cam & Troppo.

F#@K Snags thats nasty! I have seen Cam almost take the tail off his board and destroy a sail hitting the reef but nothing like that! Must have strong fin box's in the Isonic's.

Hope shoulder's Not too sore tomorrow.

P.S Did you take the cash for the damage? Or are you just going to sail it until the replacement arives.

Ha Troppo - funny thing is the fin smells very fishy.  Sail still in one piece and boom seems to be unscathed.  Would have thought that the fin box would rip out before the board snapped though.  Shoulder isn't too bad just a little bruised.

Definitely a warranty claimInnocent Can't see a mark on the board! Bummer.

Snags you are in illustrious company with Hans snapping the tail off his board in the Grevelingen chop team!

Hope the shoulder is good soon.

Snags,

It would have sounded special if you said "it was a great white shark attack or doing 40 knots off the local beach and hit a bag like HansSmile.

Just added some extra photos.  Ran into neighbour this morning who (without prompting) said he found a dead 2 foot barra yesterday morning on the beach.  I just laughed and proceeded to tell him about Monday's accident.  At least the fish could have had the courtesy and float to the surface straight away rather than laying over later on just to wash up on the beach to nobodies benefit at all.

Testing SBs radical new lure for barra fishing were we? Was it delaminated/soft on the deck or bottom before it snapped?
