Very gusty (7-16knots) Tramontana wind, fresh (air around 8degr.C,  water 10), but sunny and nice to be out. The wind was on/off all the time, but the trim was very good. Square runs in waves to about 1m.

First post for Barcoletta Bora Riders.

JP Slalom VI 76 V121, Tushingham X-15 8.3, JP Slalom III G10 46cm fin.

Thanks Aljo, yes, Barcola was the place. Tramontana is not good for speed here, but with Bora wind I hope that the Barcoletta team can be competitive with our fast croatian neighbours.. :)

Thamks to you all! Smile

There should be at least 3 slalom guys joining the team soon.. Some freestylers will probably also join, and thats good as they can assure that we are at least two surfers on the water on the same day,- and often they do lots of kilometers and nice alpha500's..  Wink

Grazie a tutti – Thanks - Hvala lijepa!

Let me present the two new team members: Michele and Jurex!

Michele is probably the fastest of us! He won GPS Lario Speed 2010 and 2011 (category: Sea) and was also the fastest overall in Fanatic Speed Contest 2011, which was held in the Gulf of Trieste, Italy. Michele is also an excellent free-styler.

Jurex is a former longboard windsurfing champion and world class bodybuilder who, a couple of years ago, decided to pickup to his old passion: windsurfing! He's getting faster and faster and was placed 3rd in GPS Lario Speed 2011 (category: Sea) and 5th overall in Fanatic Speed Contest 2011. Jurex is very passionate about windsurfing, - you could see him on the water this Monday, - the air temperature was only 1°C (=34°F)..

Good wind to you all and have fun!

Claus

Welcome Italy. Are there many speed strips around to take advantage of those +30 knot days?

Thanks.

Unfortunately there are no real speed strips in the NE Italy as far as I know,- windsurfing is strictly forbidden in lagoons and canals.. The equipment used by us are slalom boards from 90+ liters as the strongest wind near Trieste (Bora) blows offshore to the open sea and less volume would be risky,- you have to be able to return to the shore if the wind certainly dies.. On other spots, Bora is more or less side-shore, - there we have some shallow water areas with sea-grass and chop, - not ideal conditions for speed, however surfing there is much more secure in wintertime..

In NE Italy we also have other wind regimes like Scirocco, Libeccio, Tramontana and Levante, but they rarely exceed 20knots..

We hope to competitive, but for us the main thing is to be fast for the given conditions and to have fun! Smile

PS Today Bora is blowing strongly (35-69knots) and very cold (-2.2°C), so windsurfing in offshore conditions would be suicidal!
