Lake Goerge Sa

Another unreal day down here again and i had all intentions of trying my best to defend my glory, but after yesterdays stack my body was not going to allow it at all, had to settle for some alphas and on NM to help the teams average and that was it, gunna be some real good numbers appearing soon from everyone, more records smashed!! happy with my alpha but though it was i bit better!

big mission to drive 6 hrs to Lake George, sail 5 hrs and then drive home another 6 hrs. Great fun in the weed with the locals and a few Sandy ring - ins. Nice to put faces to the names. Stoked with the Nautical mile. 1.30 am now. Goin to bed.

Lake Waranga (Lake What???) Yes, new spot for me. It is about 30 km west of Shepparton. I guess the spot has the same potential than Lake Connewarre. For me was awesome to be back on the water after 15 months out of the game. I spent more time in the water than on the board, but what the hell... I was there!!!Smile

The wind did not help. Was very inconsistant but again the sensation of being back is fenomenal.

Sorry Jacques for pulling your numbers down. I need a heluva lot more practice. But the fact I'm back is a start. I guess at least makes the session valid (unless the big bull has not posted yet)

Hi guys,

Thanks for the kind words! It was great to get back to Lake George (hadn't sailed there for 16 years). Thanks to all the locals for sharing their awesome spot. It was whole new experience for me as I usually start the Missile by sinking the tail a bit but thats totally a bad idea there as the mighty weed monster grabs the fin and decides that you're not going anywhere. I was actually chop jumping the Missile (not good at 108 kg) at the start of each run to clear the weed.   Its hard to imagine how fast it would be there with an extra 10 inches of water as I was definately feeling the weed pulling back on the fin for a fair percentage of the runs. I guess it would chop up more though. Probably should have used the 21 cm assy instead of the 23. Might have helped....

Great to see so many more Pb's all round by so many guys and in such a range of diciplines.

Special thanks to Daffy for pointing out I was starting the Nm's too low down wind.  I only did 2 from the "right " start point - both over 41 's.

Perfect day though - sunny, warm water, flat water. - heaven.

cheers Tony

Hi elmo,

I have a theory that 45 ish might be as fast as possible with that much drag of the weed on the fin. I could feel the board being held back quite a bit and then accelerating where the weed cleared. All my peaks were actually in the choppy part in the centre where the weed is much deeper. The nm tracks show a fair % of the run was at 43 wih 44.5 peaks but slowing to 39 in the weed, Its a trade off between chop or flat with weed. Another 8 inches of water and much faster 5 X's and peaks etc wouldn't be a problem.

pray for rain.....
