Elwood, VIC, AU

Big day at Elwood with Bondy and Jak, wind was a bit stronger than yesterday probably up to 25 knots at times, set the Atlas with a bit more down haul today and the sail felt more balanced than yesterday.

Elwood with Captain and Jak

Awesome seabreeze conditions. Blue sky, sun and plenty of wind.

Had fun comparing and contrasting some different boards today. I used the RRD 95, Mistral Syncro 92 and finally the old Mistrak screamer 83. All really sweet boards in the chop of the bay.

The 5.8 Alpha was the right sail, although at times even a 5.0 would have been fine.

Who can sail tomorrow??

Elwood, VIC, AU, nice early seabreeze 20 - 23knts + on Australia Day, what more can you beg for. Fully powered with the 6.2 Hellcat, had to apply more outhaul halfway through the session. Got a little choppy later, so perhaps a smaller board would have been good. Probably one of the best bay sails this season.

KGB, Skipper and I with another dozen sailors at Bonno, including a few WV committee members. It must of been over 20knots as Ginger Pom sailed with us. Cross shore conditions. Sep and myself sailed about 4hours nearly nonstop.

If you’re worried about KGB's gybing the long runs we all were sailing he could have sailed to Portarlington, cleaned his fin and turn around again.

Good Breakwater to Beacon training.

The fun factor is number one. You didn't miss anything at Elwood but Adam was hammering at Parkdale when drove home.

Agree. Bit over the gps stuff. More important to just have fun.

Probably Adam was going well because the south easterly had kicked in. (it came in late today)

So whats the problem kgb you think im not having fun? Thats what the team challenge is all about having fun and talking about the days sailing with like minded people. You could learn to gybe too!

Regardless off what you sail, where you sail, what form of sailing we are all having fun. What we have over most others and I have been told this a number of times, is we have a great group of mates that sail together. Ask any one the Bonno crew is known for its friendship and it's group structure.

Sorry about being a bit negative towards the gps team stuff. My issues with my sailing have been frustrating the h%ll out of me lately and showed in my above post about using the gps. In all honesty, I really enjoy it especially when on my freerace gear. Like Steve said, the Bonno crew are a great bunch and it's always a challenge and a lot of fun sailing with them as the conditions and locations are always different. Being fairly new to the group I'm glad I was given clearance to join Smile

Well done on the pb Seb!

Coming from dingy and yacht racing speed and being competitive is in my blood . The gps gives a indication how much i have to catch up . learning from the pros get all the good hints and smart coments ( little finger ) is all part of it . Being out with the bonno crew and chasing each other playing with the choop , trying to gybe to get a better alpha, is great!

learning windsurfing is a lot more fun in a group of great friends, like the bonno blasters .

see you next time at bonno, hopefully in 25 knots  southwesterly! :)  It's extreme fun and pleasure! Laughing

On the bay, I enjoy the gps stuff, but I also find it a bit refreshing when I sail without it.

I find (on the bay) when wearing the gps I tend to sail longer runs in between jibes and I'm less likely to back off and just tool around on the swells and waves.

Without the gps I'm more likely to sail below top speed and look for things to do along the way. (shorter runs, more frequent jibing, turning down swells, go for more jumps etc

A combination of both is good.

- when sailing flat water at invy or sp, the gps makes it a lot more interesting.

As for the team thing, I reckon we are really lucky to have such a varied group of people who try and sail so often. There's always someone ready to sail or talk about gear with.

Well another day of sailing at Bonno on the SUPer with JAK, Urs and Daniel. A nice warm, blue sky and crystal clear water day. Looks like the same tomorrow.
