Chinaman (1603km): Mallacoota, VIC, AU Funny day today. Took the family for a Sunday drive in the hope for a sail and some time together as I am working away all week. Looked at the forecast and thought it can't be right, so slogged upwind for about 1.5nm to Goodwin Sands (our claimed speed spot in all directions) Barely on the plane at times. Wind Kicked in a bit once we were out there for a few nice bumpy runs then OMFG somebody turned on the fans. Need to get the boat over here in our NE winds with speedbord in shallow water and short fins to see what we can achieve. Done a big downwinder with some hairy moments on the way back in so thatwe could grab a cold beer. The wind was really honking when we left 25kn plus easy would have been interesting to see if how much better if we would have towed the boat down Manta 69, Overdrive 6m, Venom40 | ||||||||||||||||||
kato (15334km): Another play day at Lake George?.....No just our verson ,Swan Bay with its rays, urchins and Jacque Its taken a while to get over the west but Dan and I did the trek on the promise of a good amount of wind. Thanks....we,ve had enough. Started building mid morning to a nice 25-30 nw getting us out on bigish gear and enjoying the warm wind. Had a lunch break and went out again as the wind increased to high 40,s with lots of smoke on the water. Sat out in the middle on my own as the crew bailed and watched the gusts tear the water apart. No sailing just floating The wind backed off to the 30-35 range and had a bash at the Nm but just too much wind for the 5.7 and an unknown fin. A good day. Well done Pete (Naz)) for pulling out early and not getting smashed. Well done Dan for repeatedly getting smashed and not giving up Sorry about the fin Jacque as i remolded it on a star stake.
