Wish you guys would try the Maui Ultra Fins Delta. It's got something like a 55 degree rake, so that might make a difference in the weeds. I just sailed one (albeit a thicker freeride) the last two days and loved it, but I'm just a speed beginner fighting to break 30 knots. I'd love to hear what you think about the fin. They are just starting production, but if you contact the guys in Maui directly, maybe they can help you.

haven't sail the delta's, unfortunatly 55 degree rake would not cut it for the weed where we are, but  I have some speed weeds coming, they have already done some very impressive results, 47+ Knots, so I'm Pretty sure your delta speed will give you simular results if you push them, good luck mate!

Hi Jacques, I was under the impression that the angle on the MUF Delta's is higher than on any other weed fins. Here's an image:

It's definitely higher than on all my other weed fins, so from that alone, it should work better. In addition, they can be much shorter. I'm using a 19 cm to replace a 29 cm regular weed; the speed fins go down to 15 cm. They say the fin has clocked 45 knots, but I could not find any data about it. Anyway, the recent Lake George speeds are so amazing that when I read Tony's description, I had to think of the Delta. Some weed fins, like the Select Speed Weed, have a cutout at the board; the MUF Delta is quite the opposite with it's straight back. I'm curious if that makes any difference in weeds, since some designers seem to think the cutouts help with weeds.

Just coming out of the winter, weeds are not an issue here right now; but in the fall, one of my favorite spots can have a big problem with long sticks floating on top (almost like bamboo), where regular weed fins stop working. I think the MUF Delta will have a good chance due to the better angle and the lower depth.

I think the guy behind the design has quite a bit of credibitity after changing the way wave fins look like, and having Philip Koester win the wave titel with his fins. But maybe I'm biased because he is German like me .

Peter, interesting fin, a fin with that sort of rake would definatly shed all the weed we have around here and reducing the depth would allow us to sail in some vey flat water, i'm definatly interested, thanks
