kato (15334km): A play day at Area 45 with the first to 40 mission on our minds. Adrian was posting 39.5 regularing but couldn,t find a 40 so we went off to rig the 5.5, meanwhile out on the water i found a good gust and got a 40.0000. Game on from there. We kept finding better gusts, better angles and then Spotty turned up . Great flat water which ended in very rough water so it was go fast then stand on the breaks and drive the board up wind to the beach. Did the last run with a 42.8 on the screan, into the rough water only to have the rig seperate and spear me through the mast. Scratch one mast and back. A good job that i,m on sick leave for my eye Ca 40,Ka 5.7/Ka/Loc 21 fin
Chinaman (1603km): Area 45 Inverloch First time at this spot with some crew and busters. Thanks to the busters for making me welcome on their home turf. Great session after a 500km drive but well worth it. Great to see 3 pit crew break the 40 kn voodoo at this place and made it look so easy epecially spotty. Speeds are slowly climbing as my confidence grows in my gear. Tomorrow should be another good day. Thanks to Kato for the hospitality, think we will sit back and have a couple of beers after his little mishap. Real sorry that the the old mate Issac couldn't be here as he is overseas and he wouldn't have enjoyed it much. Isonic 49 sp , slingshot 21 ka koncept 4.9 (should of rigged bigger)

Spotty (4516km): After all the Lake George excitement and numbers from Thursday, it was time to to check out 'AREA 45' for the first time as the easterley winds beckoned. Arrived to find the locals and other crew members sailing the short little dog leg speed bank run in front of the car park complete with shaded grassy rigging area com plete with brick dunny block so it does not blow away if Slowboat shows up. Rigged the 5.8 Koncept,23asym, and 44 and headed out as Kato did his 40 and Ado a 43, I'm thinking well this place can't be called Area 45 unless you can do 45 here so off I went with something to aim for along with the confused chop at the end of the run. First safety run did a 40, then a 41, and walked part of the run to check the depth and the bottom which resembled the whoops section of a moto-x track. Smashed out some more runs getting 43 and 44s and then lucked a gust as hooked into the last bit of the run where you bear off for the cameras and peaked a 46 before applying the brakes and heading up across the intersecing channel to the carpark. So apart from needing a name change from AREA 45 to 46 this spot seems like a good little place for those summer easterlys where you can have a picnic with out the sand and bust out some serious speeds at the same time.
Ado (2237km): Great session at Area 45 Inverloch. There was one mission today - and that was to crack 40knots flat in the inlet. Well - we smashed it. First, I "allowed" Kato to have a cool 40.00knot peak run, while I upsized to a 5.5 KA Race 2012, then out I went in the knowledge that Kato had already cracked it thinking right how can I better that. With a 40.60knot 10sec of course! Then next run, having tuned a few things and hooking into a massive gust which must have been around 30knots and got pushed to 43+. What a rush. It's a crazy short run, where only the last 50m is true broad reach running into a choppy channel!
Than Spotty turned up and the cookies crumbled. He had a coupla warm up runs, then cracks a 43.8 peak and then an hour later a 46+. Insane.
CA40, KA Race 5.5, KA Assy 20, coffee, burger
Numbers from the GPS unit so may be slightly edited on Monday. NM to come once I've checked everything on the software. |
