Windxtasy (2881km): Safety Bay, WA, AU F111, 6.4 K, 40 LE weedy It's a pity none of you could join me today because you would have seen a very happy girl! A steady 15 - 18 knots, perfect for gybing practice, and I completed lots today, especially on starboard tack where my success rate would have been over 50%! My best gybes ever, if not the fastest, definitely the smoothest. Did get my second best alpha, so it was nearly three PB's. I actually sailed further than that but inadvertently paused the GPS and it didn't record for a while. Could have gone further but had to get back to take my son to his music lesson. Well worth the drive for some consistent planing wind.
JJ (6448km): Woodmans Point, WA, AU Fun late sail, wind was lighter than expected - perhaps 15 - 18 knots. A bit underdone on my medium kit although the NM was good fun and not stressful in the light wind. Isonic 86, GPS 6.6m, Black Project Speed Weed 28 (sweet fin but perhaps a bit small today)
Pointman (8480km): Magic little sesh at Peli in around 12-18K. Second sail on the 135 Patrik. Really liking the board, she trims really sweet in the chop, nose rides nice and high and the rails don't catch. Paired with the 9.6 Code Red + 48 Talon it was a perfect combo for the conditions. Also stoked to see how much nicer the 9.6 is to sail on the recommended Redline mast. Just seems to breathe in the gusts a lot better and accelerate, rather than stand me up like it used to when rigged on the old X9. A bit of stuffing around when I rigged up as the cam packers which suited the X9 resulted in zilch rotation on the Redline. Had to derig, remove the packers and rerig. Finally on the water around 5.20. Had a lovely little sail, the breeze was reasonably consistent and it was flat as. Flat water fanging at its best Had a few drags with Fish Pants + Somepunk. I could pace them in the gusts, but they had the wood on me in the light patches. Sailed til well after dusk and had the river all to myself at the end there. Came off the water with a big smile, it was a really fun sail.

lao shi (27489km): Outing at Wallyworld after the W word. Almost didn't go out as it was looking iffy. Dogged across from Mossie side to get a great little gust at the point over some sweetly flat water! There would have been some Bubba alpha PBs if some idiot hadn't left both GPS at home! No stinkboats and flat water but the usual gusty as. Mr Boat arrived and killed the wind. Was just heading back home when somebody had a kitemare and a kite starts to drift across to Claremont without a pilot. My good Samaritan took over and having seen the rescue guys out searching for kiters decided to retrieve it. Firstly all the string is a bugger to wrap up and because the lines were all twisted around the kite it just became a big sea anchor! Very slowly managed to tow it to Pt Resolution (Dalkeith) out of the harness the whole way where I deflated it and dumped it on the beach. Heading back I see someone swimming out from Wallyworld to come and get the kite. Went over and towed him across. By this time it was almost dark and the wind was disappearing. Managed to tack back home just as it was getting dark. LB7,460,Bubba,CF42
Well done on the PBs Windxtasy! Send me your track and I will have a look at those alphas. A few pointers and you will have more Pbs in no time! |
