Lake Illawarra, NSW, AU  Another big crowd out on a windy day.  Mostly on the Naish supacross with a 5.7.  Leo gave me a go on the Keef special. In a lull.  Did my fastest run, not really  powered up on a first (and only) run on a board the likes of which I've never seen or sailed before. With one of Leo's special homemade fins. Either Keef has designed a revolutionary board, easy to sail, with plenty of speed, or the difference between a great board and an average board is all down to the footstraps.

Lake Illawarra, NSW, AU. Gusty WSW and cycling every half hour or so (typical westerly)

Started fairly early with Jase and Leo on the 4.6. A bit of fun in the gusts but generally underpowered. Rerigged to the 5.5 and this felt better, but still lacking the drive when going broad. Eventually changed to the 6.5 and this was the most fun. Just shows that a cambered sail is better for this type of sailing (no sh%t!Surprised).

Tried out a Black Projects Weed Speed 28cm fin and this felt good - grippy and quite fast, however not enough rake to use in the calmer, shallower water - it just catches the weed(doh). Swapped over the the MU Delta slalom 17.6 and this really likes to be powered up. It is quite sensitive to back foot pressure when sailing broad. Great for sailing in the shallows.

The wind kicked up a gear at the back of the day but too buggered to take advantage of it. Big day for the GustbustersSmile

iSonic 76, 4.6, 5.5, 6.5 sails, BP Weed Speed 28, MU Delta Slalom 176
