A cold arvo sail at Invy with Ado, Daz joined us latter once the rain slowed to a drizzle. Started with us thinking of rigging 6.6 and we ended the day on flatened 5.0s. Lots and lots of rain turned the inlet a nice mission brown color making it hard to find sand bars so sailing at 45 was out. The aim was to sail the entrance along the sandbar at low tide except not enough water went out leaving us with swell and chop cutting across the course. Not fun in the twilight conditions that we had. Did one fully lit Nm run with the 5.7 which scared me straight back to the beach and rig the 5. Way too much wind and way too broad. Tried the CA40 with a TM26 too much fin, i must get a small sym fin. Ended back on the Sl52,with the Venom 30 dancing through the chop, ok square but scary off the wind. Had a great side by side run with Ado until he spun a little sideways Surprised Gave him a bit more room after that. Great to have some good wind for a change, now just need to turn off the rain. Had gusts to the high 30s with the entrance another 10kt

Crazy afternoon at Inverloch with Craig & Daz, with the wind increasing all the way to dusk. Gusts over 40 knots in the estuary channel. Hellish lumps in the speed zone. Craig you only pipped me on the nautical because I went sideways for 50m travelling at 34knots!

If only that great big sandbar came out of the water, then there would be a few 45s on the dial Wink

Could well do if the bars move around in the right way.

Thanks for the sail boys - I think it was fun. I ran the bar twice today (Tues). The wind had backed off a bit in the AM, I had the same gear as with you guys and had a blast (a few knots quicker too and NO rain!) Then ran it again in the arvo. (wind was down to 15knots) water was flat - a really fun sesh

Russell,

Yep 25-45 knots is an incredible wind range for a sail by any measure. And I'm no heavyweight either.

If the sandbar had popped out and I plonked it on the SP40 it would have been truly interesting, given it was 10 knots windier than when we christened Area 45 with 43's and 46's! Cool
